Josie's pov (Clara's mum)
I'm getting married in a few months! Of course Clara is my main concern in this moment in time. Just what provoked her to do a thing like this? That bitch she has as a step mum is out of order. How dare she tell me what to do with my own kids. The kids who I had with Alan. unbelievable! One problem to the next. When is Clara going to realise that her family love her to bits? I know I haven't been there when she needed me but, I will always love her wherever she may be. Even with her laying on a hospital bed right in front of me and Alan.
Alan and I sat either side of Clara. She had a pale face with her large eyes closed, her chocolate coloured hair tied back. She was hospital nightware which you could easily see the scars on her right arm. They looked so deep and painful as a scab was starting to form.
'We hardly came into hospital when Leo and Clara were little' said Alan in a gentle voice, being the first to speak. Then he looked down at Clara. 'we need to get through this as a family' he continued.
'Yeah, your right Alan,' I agreed. I held Clara's hand. I could feel her pounding pulse through her figure tips.
'What do you think escalated Clara's depression?' I asked. As her mother I should know what's going on in my daughter's life. Alan looked at his nokia brick phone and then glared at me with his icey blue eyes. 'I've thought we have been through this?' He mumbled.
'I know with the support group and counciling to resolve this but, what has made Clara do these things? You can see very clearly marked on her arm, the cuts and her running away from home and...,' I continued.
'Josie I get the picture!' Alan interrupted.
'I'm just curious Alan!' I said while making a point.
Doctors and Nurses rushing to and throw across the A and E department were passing the bed. Alan went out to call his horrible wife of his to give her an update on Clara. Still holding Clara's hand I stared at the clock. It was half eleven at night. It might be a long night you never know in these places.
Then I felt a squeeze on my hand. Clara was waking up! From daydreaming to focusing on my daughter. I had tears of joy. Her big blue eyes opened yet again. She looked dizzy and uncomfortable. 'Where am I?' She asked.
'Don't worry darling, your in hospital. You fell off the roof at the pub in Bromaberry for Leo's funnel.' I explained anyway, the best I could.
Alan came towards the bed with two plastic coffee cups and his phone nudged between his figures. He was focusing on the coffee splashing onto the floor more than seeing the process what Clara had just made.
When he finally placed the coffee cups on the table, he looked up. He looked so surprised because Clara was awake. 'Never do anything like that again!' He shouted. 'Alan, keep your voice down! Clara has just got out of a blackout. Plus there are vety sick people in here, who do not wished to be disturbed by your shouting. ' He sits down on the plain blue chair. Clara looked a bit confused. Her head was moving around everywhere as she was trying to work out where she was. She must of had a bit of a bang to the head.
A Indian doctor with a stethoscope around his neck came towards the bed. 'Hello I'm doctor Scarborough, I'm here to assess Clara.' Alan and I introduced ourselves as Clara's mum and dad. 'Clara has a bit of a knock on the head so she will be a bit confused for a bit. However, she will recover from this with a bit of rest. Now Clara, can you feel your legs?' The doctor asked Clara. Clara looked down at her feet. 'I can't move my left foot it hurts way too much. ' She replied. The doctor went to the left side of Clara and removed some of the blankets. 'Now Clara, I'm going to feel along your leg and can you tell me where it hurts most?' He felt along her leg. 'Ouch!' Clara screamed in pain. You could see the pain in her eyes. It was where her shin was. The doctor was writing down notes. 'You will go for an xray later on this evening maybr in the morning because you need your sleep.' The doctor explained.
'Also my arm kills!' Clara continued.
'Ok we will get that looked at aswell. Now Clara needs her sleep let's leave her in peace.' The doctor said.
Alan went towards Clara first. He gave her a kiss. 'Now you sleep Clara, you got us all worried. I will be back when you wake up.' Alan then walked out with the doctor. Finally I walked over to her and pulled up her pillows which were falling down her back. 'Night my geogrous daughter, sleep well. You have done well despite the events which happened today. Leo would be not proud that your in hospital but it has made me realise that we need to stick as a family through this.' I kissed her as her eyes slowly dropped and she went to sleep. I went to catch up with Alan and the doctor.
