" a new ice cream flavor?" louis asked the younger who stood before him, " what are you , five? " he asked sarcastically, placing his arms on the marble kitchen counter of the Montgomery household.

" indeed, how did you know? " the girl snapped back in a sarcastic yet excited tone, putting down the vanilla ice cream , cake mixes, and fruit next to the boy, " plus, you were the one who said I could pick what we would do today."

with the roll of an eye, louis looked across the island at the girl who was currently placing two tubs of ice cream in front of him, " i don't understand how this will calm you. "

" you never necessarily said that the list would be full of things that calm me, you just said things that would keep me occupied and distracted. " she explained, opening the cap to the whipped cream, " and this. " she paused to put some whipped cream in her mouth, " is one of them! " she said with her mouth half filled, throwing her arms out.

louis let out a chuckle, " okay wise guy, what ice cream flavor are we deciding to make? "

pushing the two tubs of ice cream toward louis, she suddenly said,
" red velevet cookies and cream. "

the boy gave her a disgusted look, " that sounds like something that will rot your teeth! " he blabbers.

" oh yeah yeah, sweet tooth , blah blah, cavities , yata yata , i don't care ! " she mocked, " i would kill to have this ice cream flavor and today i am determined to make it! "

glancing at the two tubs of ice cream in front of him, he spoke, " by putting red velvet ice cream and cookies and cream ice cream together? " he asked.

" well, obviously! you actually think we are gonna do work by making the ice cream our selves? i don't think so! "

looking at the girl talk, louis couldn't help but gaze at her flawless features. noticing the light freckles that lined the girls nose, and the soft dimples she had when she gave him a smile, the way she would wrinkle her nose when talking. all these little things about the girl drove louis mad.

" and then we can add sprinkles and such more if we want. " river suggested to him, giving him a light shrug of her shoulder.

louis wasn't sure if it the cold air or if it the way river said
" we " , but something sent chills down his spine, making him shudder before saying, " yeah because i definitely want more cavities than i'll already get just trying it by adding more sugar on top. " he joked.

the girl was quick to defend as she playfully pushed his shoulder, " way to be a party pooper. "

" well ,, you know me! " he joked, pushing the tub across the kitchen island, causing it to fall on the floor.

mixing the ice cream seemed to be a hard task for the small girl, as louis watched her struggle to
mix her bowl full of the two scoops. she had already somehow made a mess with the small amount of ice cream she had.

him on the other hand, was done with his mixings of the ice creams, " you need help there? " he asked with a chuckle.

looking up from the bowl, she gave him a nervous smile, " is it that obvious? " she asked , watching as louis came from around the counter to her side to help.

" here let me, " he paused, " i can— " , he know moved behind her and placed his hand on top of hers, " like this. " he said, taking her hand and string the ice cream much easier than she had been doing before.

she looked back at the boy who was standing behind her, their eyes now interlocking with one another. a blush creeping along both of their cheeks , feeling their faces start to grow closer to each other.

before anything could happen, a sudden sound of a bowl falling on the floor startled the two. now letting go of rivers hand, louis rushed to clean the mess.

" louis , LOUIS. " she tried to call his name.

louis has felt like an idiot, he knew he liked her, getting that close to her wasn't a smart idea. " she has a boyfriend and you almost KISSED HER?! " he thought to himself, mentally wanting to slap himself.

" louis. " she finally kneeled down to the boys level, placing her hand on his shoulder, " you okay? "

the british boy quickly nodded, cleaning the mess of the ice cream with the towel he had, " yeah yeah. " he lied, " i'm fine. "

swiftly, the two stood up after cleaning their mess.

" so since we spilt my ice cream, i guess i can just share yours? " she asked rinsing out her towel.

louis looked back at the girl, nodding his head again, " sure sure. " he said looking to grabbing her another spoon from the drawer, if he could find the drawer.

" the spoons are over here. "

his head jolted up to see river standing before him with another spoon in hand.

" oh. " he said scratching the back of this neck , chuckling nervously.

pushing the bowl in between them, they both took a spoonful of the mixture. clinking their spoons together before eating the ice cream.

" wow. " river said.

" wow indeed. " louis agreed.

" this is actually really good."

his eyes widened taking another spoon full, " surprisingly. " louis joked.

" it's amazing. "

" breath-taking. "

" wonderful. "

" perfect. " they said in unison.

now one though ran through the twos head after saying their simple words, were they really talking about the ice cream, or something else?
