Red Nation: Chapter 25
~Days Later~
~Trey P.O.V.~Tonight was my last night in prison and I was so thankful about that. I was irritated, bored, and lonely. Well when I wasn't with Ace. I missed being home, I missed having my freedom, my privacy, and I can't believe I'm going to say this but, I actually missed Mom yelling, nagging, and bitching at me over dumb shit. I hate hearing the wardens yell.
They weren't nearly as bad as Mom's yelling but I'd rather hear her yell at me for talking back than hear a warden.
This was my last time being in the yard and I decided I'd just sit back and relax. I thought being in prison was going to be way worse, it's still terrible as fuck because you have nothing in here, but I was expecting a lot of fights to go down.
"You excited to get out of here?" Ace asked he dapped me and took a seat in the chair next to me.
"Yeah. This was the worst month of my life. I've never felt like the little person in the room and being here made me feel like the littlest person in the world." Everyone in here was older than me. The person closest to my age was Ace and he was 31. All the young ones, like 18, 19, and people in their 20's were all in level 2.
"That's how it goes here. When you're new, you're the lowest on the totem pole and then you gradually work your way up. No one would do shit in this level but every now and then something would pop off." I was listening to him but I was watching everyone around me. Watching how business was done.
Wagering of any kind was prohibited. Here you get money sent from your loved ones or when you work for the prison. You use that money to buy things you'll need for the week. Soap, shampoo, snacks, things of that nature from the connivence store that we all visited one day a week.
The thing closest to dealing drugs, was dealing merchandise and the wardens didn't like that at all. It was prohibited because it caused problems and fights.
I just watched a deal go bad.
A fight broke out between 4 members of a gang and some guy who was dealing with them. All of us in the yard stopped and stared as we watched them brutally attack the guy.
Along all the members forearms were the initials "R.R."
"What's "R.R." Stand for." I asked Ace and I continued to watch the fight go on. From the distance I could hear security on their way.
"The initials of a gang leader. These are his goons who managed to leave Level 2 and come here to deal." Ace said as he too watched with his milky white eyes.
"He rep a color or what's his gang name?"
"Color." Bandanas were also prohibited because it promoted gang activity so I couldn't see one. "They don't rep their color here. In Level 2 they do but not here. What wardens don't know is this gang leaders still traffics drugs through the jail. Someone smuggles it into his cell, he cuts it, wraps it, and sends out of his cell faster than when it came in." Whoa.
"R.R.?" He nodded.
"You fuckin' with Rico's shit!" One guy called out who had the R.R tattoo. So his name was Rico? His names rings a bell but I can't say why it does. I've heard his name before.
"His name's Rico." Ace nodded. "What color?"
"Was orange but now he's got a new color. He's traffics drugs from his prison to this one and the drugs spread here but Level 2 still reps orange but on the outside he's got a new color." Cuffs were put on all 5 inmates and they were dragged away.
