Set after the finale, spencer doesn’t come out of her house anymore and toby goes over to visit her, he walks in and sees that all the mirrors are covered up or taken down due to her twin.
It had been a month since Alex Drake was revealed as A.D. and the girls were all enjoying their A free lives, but none of them realized how much this had affected Spencer, well except for Toby of course.
It had been a couple weeks since he had seen Spencer in person but he just figured she needed some alone time to process what had happened, and he would text her often just to make sure she was okay and she'd always write back which gave him some peace but he couldn't help but worry about her and he just wanted to be with her again and help her through this, but after everything that happened he wasn't sure that's what she wanted anymore.
Toby pulled up to The Brew and got out of his truck, he was meeting with the girls to catch up and as he was walking towards the building he couldn't help but hope to see Spencer in there with them but sadly when he walked in he only saw Hanna, Aria, Emily, and Alison and he tried to hide his disappointment as he walked over to them.
“Hey Toby.” Emily said smiling at him and then she got up to give him a quick hug and he happily hugged her back. “Hey Em, hey girls, it's good to see you.” Toby said smiling at them as he sat down. “It's nice to see you too Toby.” Alison said. “Okay has anyone heard from Spence today?” Aria asked.
“No, I was hoping she'd be here.” Hanna said frowning. “Come to think of it, I don't think she's been out in public in a while, which it's understandable though considering what she's been through.” Alison said. “Toby you text with her everyday right?” Emily asked and he nodded. “Have you talked to her today?”
She asked and he shook his head.
“No, but I'm getting really worried about her, I was trying to give her time and space to heal from this but I know her well enough to know that she needs someone to help her through this.” Toby said before looking down at his hands. “And that someone should be you.” Aria said giving him a sad smile.
“Yeah she's right Toby, we all know how much you still care about her, and you're the only one who she'll actually open up to.” Emily said. “I agree with you and yes I still care about her very much, but after everything that's happened she might not feel the same way about me anymore.” Toby said frowning. “Toby we all know that's not true, she still loves you and you still love her and you both are way too stubborn to admit it.” Hanna said and Toby stayed silent because he knew that Hanna was absolutely right, of course he still loves Spencer, but he's worried she doesn't feel the same way about him anymore, especially after everything that's happened. “See what I mean? You're not denying it.” Hanna said.
“Okay maybe you're right, so what?” Toby said. “So what? Toby you need to go check on her, make sure she's alright we're all worried about her but we all know she'll push the rest of us away unless it's you.” Emily said and Toby nodded. “You're right Em, I'll go check on her.” He said before giving them a small smile. “Yeah you will!” Aria said and the group couldn't help but laugh. “Alright I better get going, I'll talk to you later Em.” Toby said and Emily nodded before giving him another quick hug and then he said goodbye one more time before leaving The Brew, but not before ordering a coffee for Spencer because he knows how much his girl loves her coffee, well he hoped she'd be his girl again, some day.
As soon as he pulled into the Hasting’s driveway he got out of his truck and immediately made his way to the barn and carefully knocked on the door. “Who is it?” He heard her call out, her voice sounded so small and frail and he just wanted to wrap his arms around her and tell her that everything was going to be okay. “It's me Spence.” He said calmly and a few minor seconds later the door began to open and Spencer immediately threw her arms around Toby and he happily hugged her back. “Hey, you didn't text me today so I was beginning to worry you forgot about me.” Spencer said looking up at him and he immediately took notice of the dark circles around her eyes and her messy hair and how exhausted she looked, yet she still looked like the most beautiful woman on Earth to him.
