"Spence I'm home." Toby called for his fiancé as he walked through the door of their house that he had built for them. "Hey handsome, I missed you." Spencer said as she smiled at him as she walked down the stairs and then she ran to him and jumped in his arms and he picked her up and spun her around and she laughed softly, just like they always do when he gets home from work. "I missed you too Spence." Toby said as he set her back down on the floor, their arms still wrapped around each other. "How was work, Officer Toby?" Spencer asked him. "It was good, but I'm happy to be back with my favorite girl." Toby said before kissing her forehead gently. "I'm glad that you're back too." Spencer said.
"There's something that I want to tell you." Toby said as he stroked her arm. "Okay sure, what is it?" Spencer asked curiously. "Well, I've been doing a lot of thinking about that question that you asked me the other day, and I made a decision." Toby said, a small smile on his face and Spencer's eyes widened in surprise. "Wait a second, are you saying what I think you're saying?" She asked him and he nodded. "I'm saying that we can go to the shelter and adopt a puppy." Toby said and Spencer's face lit up with excitement. "Really?!" She asked him excitedly and he nodded. "Really." He said and Spencer smiled widely before jumping into his arms again, Toby laughed softly as he picked her up once again and spun her around. "This is great, thank you." Spencer said as she smiled at him. "Oh come on Spence you know I'd do anything for you, besides I actually have thought about us adopting a puppy before, I think it will be good for us." Toby said smiling back at her as he set her back down on the floor. "I think so too, and it will also be good practice for when we have kids." Spencer said as she smiled at him. "Yes I was thinking that too." Toby said as he smiled back at her.
"So, when can we go to the shelter?" Spencer asked him. "We can actually go now if you want, I just have to take a shower first." Toby said and Spencer nodded. "Okay that sounds good, but do you find if I give you some company in the shower?" Spencer asked as she smirked at him. "Of course not." Toby said, smirking back at her and then they headed upstairs to their bathroom to take a shower.

Spencer and Toby arrived at the local animal shelter to find the puppy that was perfect for them, and not even ten minutes later Spencer's eyes settled on a fluffy little Golden Retriever, who looked eagerly as excited to see them. "This is Rose." Jenny, one of the volunteers said with a small smile. "She's absolutely adorable." Spencer said, and Toby could see that she had already fallen in love with the puppy. "We'd like to see her." He said, smiling softly and Jenny nodded and she gently picked up Rose out of the pen and Spencer gently took her into her arms, Toby smiled softly as he watched how Spencer was with Rose, he knelt down next to them as the puppy licked Spencer's face and then she looked at Toby and barked happily at him.
"I think that she's our puppy Tobes." Spencer said and he nodded in agreement. "Yeah I think so too, we'll take her." He said happily.
"Great, as you can see she's very sweet, and she's already been housebroken." Jenny said.
"She's perfect." Spencer said as she smiled at Toby and he smiled back at her and Rose barked happily before licking Spencer's cheek.
"Alright, well let's get our little puppy here the things she needs and then we'll head home." Toby said. "That sounds perfect." Spencer said happily and Rose barked in agreement and Spencer and Toby both laughed and then he kissed her forehead gently.

"Okay, I would say that Rose already feels at home." Toby said happily as he sat down next to Spencer who was lying on the floor while playing with Rose and one of her toys that they had just bought. "Yeah, we're a perfect little family now." Spencer said. "Yes we are." Toby said before kissing her and Rose barked happily and they both laughed and Toby petted Rose's head softly. "So, I say that we get even more acquainted with our little fur baby here." Spencer said. "I couldn't agree with you more." Toby said as he smiled softly at her before looking at Rose. "Hey Rose, you want to go outside and play fetch?" Toby said as he picked up the ball that they had bought for her, Rose wagged her tail excitedly and barked, Spencer laughed softly. "I think that's a yes." She said smiling softly at him and he smiled back at her. "Okay, then let's go out to the backyard." He said and Spencer nodded and Rose barked happily in agreement making them laugh, and then they headed outside.

"Well she's definitely energetic." Toby said laughing softly as Rose caught the ball that Spencer had just thrown for her, and then she excitedly ran back to them and dropped it for her to throw it again. "Oh yeah, she fits in with us pretty well." Spencer said as she bent down to pick up the ball, she then threw it again and Rose ran excitedly to go and catch up, Toby watched with a smile on his face as he watched their puppy, she ran back to them, dropped the ball at Spencer's feet, and then she laid down on the grass to rest for a second. "Did you tire yourself out girl?" Spencer said as she laughed softly. "Maybe a little." Toby said as he smiled softly at her. "Well you really are an energetic little pup Rose." Spencer said as she smiled softly.
"Did I ever tell you that I have actually always wanted a Golden Retriever?" Toby said and Spencer looked at him. "No, you have?" She asked him and he nodded as he bent down to pet Rose. "Yeah, since I was a kid, and my mom wanted to get me one, but My dad wasn't exactly thrilled about the idea…" He told her and Spencer frowned a little, she had no idea about this, and she knows how much Toby kisses his mom, and how strained his relationship with his dad is. "I'm sorry Tobes." She said. "How many times do I have to tell you that you never have to say that you're sorry?" Toby said and Spencer laughed softly. "A thousand." She said. "Well there's nothing for you to apologize for, and besides now we have Rose." Toby said and Rose barked in response. "Yes we do." Spencer said smiling softly at him before looking at their puppy. "Okay Rose, you ready for me to throw the ball again?" She said and the puppy barked happily in response. "That would be a yes." Toby said. "Okay, go get it!" Spencer said as she threw the ball once again and Rose happily ran after it, but this time she jumped up in the air and caught it in her mouth. "Nice job Rose!" Toby said smiling softly as she ran back over to them, cropped the ball by Spencer's feet, and then she sat by them, panting proudly. "Who's our good girl?" Spencer said as she rubbed behind her ears and Rose seemed very happy, Toby smiled softly as he watched them.
That Night
"Well, I would say that today was a very productive day." Spencer said as she laid her head on Toby's chest, they were cuddling in their bed, and of course Rose was snuggled in between them. "I would agree with that." Toby said as he smiled softly at her, and then they both glanced down at Rose who was fast asleep. "Especially for this little puppy." Spencer said. "Yeah, it's a good thing that we went to the shelter today, because we found the puppy that we were meant to have." Toby said. "Yes we definitely did." Spencer said happily. "You know, we have been through a lot of stuff to get to where we are right now, but I want to tell you that it was all worth it because we're here right now, in the house that I built for you, you're going to be my wife, and now we have the perfect little puppy." Toby said as she stroked her hair gently, she smiled widely at him. "Yeah, it might've been a little bit of a rough road getting here, but you're absolutely right. It was one hundred percent worth it." Spencer said before kissing him and he kissed her back passionately, they couldn't be happier, all that was important now is that they're together, and now they have Rose in their lives, and they wouldn't change any of it.
