Spencer was currently in her bedroom in the barn sobbing into her pillow because she had just gotten some be life changing news and wasn't sure how to process it, she especially didn't know how she was going to tell Toby, her loving boyfriend and her safe place to land, this was going to be extremely hard for her to tell him, and she doesn't want to lose him but she's terrified that once she tells him this news that's exactly what's going to happen. She didn't even remember how long she had been laying in her bed sobbing when she heard a knock on the door and although she figured who it was her suspicions were confirmed when she heard the loving and caring voice that belonged to her boyfriend from outside the barn.
“Spence? Babe are you home?”
Spencer didn't know what to do, she wasn't ready to have this conversation but she also didn't want to worry him so she tried to pull herself together as much as she could before getting out of bed and then walking out of yet bedroom and to the door and then she took a deep breath and opened the door to see Toby's smiling face, and he was holding a bouquet of flowers, red roses, her favorite.
“Tobes.” Spencer said smiling softly at him and hoping that he couldn't see through her facade and notice that something was wrong.
“I brought you these, I know it's no special occasion I just wanted to bring my favorite girl some flowers, but are you alright?” Toby asked and Spencer sighed deeply, of course he figured out that something was wrong, he's Toby. “No I'm alright, thank you for the roses, come in.” Spencer said as she took the roses from him and went to the kitchen to put them in a vase and fill it with water and Toby walked over behind her and gently wrapped his arms around her waist and he kissed her neck softly and she let out a moan and she was trying not to start crying all over again, she didn't want to have to tell him right now but she can't do this to him, she can't string him along like this he needs to know and she's going to have to tell him so she took a deep breath and turned around to face him and Toby immediately noticed the tears running down her face and grew even more concerned.
“Spence baby what's wrong?” He asked with concern in his voice as he did his best to try and wipe the tears away from her cheeks.
“I-I…” Spencer started but she couldn't dorm the words and another sob escaped her mouth and she felt like she couldn't breathe, and as much as Toby wanted to know what was bothering her his main concern right now was getting her to calm down. “Hey hey hey, let's go over to the couch okay?” Toby said sweetly and Spencer nodded and then Toby led her over to the couch and he sat down and then gently pulled Spencer into his lap and she flung her arms around him and began sobbing uncontrollably as Toby sat there trying to comfort her and he rubbed her back in soothing circles and eventually Spencer started to calm down in the safety of his arms, she doesn't want this to end, but she needs to tell him.
“I-i-i-i'm s-s-sorry.” Spencer said in between her soft cries. “I don't know what you're apologizing for but I promise you that whatever is bothering you it's going to be okay, I just need you to talk to me, tell me what's wrong.” Toby said and Spencer nodded and she took a deep breath and laid her head on his shoulder. “I-I g-got a phone call a little bit ago….. I got a new job offer that could be really good for my career in Interior Design.” Spencer said nervously and Toby smiled softly at her and kissed her forehead. “Spence that's great! But wait a second why are you apologizing to me for that? This is a good thing Spence.” He said but Spencer shook her head and looked at him with more tears streaming down her cheeks.
“It would be a good thing….. except the job is in London Tobes.” Spencer said and Toby's eyes widened in surprise. “London….. oh my God, Spence that's great…. A-are you going to take it?” He asked nervously because he didn't want to lose her. “I-I think I want to… maybe…. I don't know but I don't want to lose you because you mean a thousand times more to me than this job, than any job.” Spencer said and Toby nodded as he was trying to process everything she was saying to him, of course he didn't want to lose her but he knows that this is a great opportunity for her and he wouldn't want her to throw that away on his account.
“I-I am so sorry Toby… I know that we had this whole plan and you know that I definitely don't want to leave you and of course I know that it would be selfish of me to ask if you would come with me that would be absolutely ridicul-”
Spencer was cut off mid ramble by Toby smashing his lips against hers passionately and she was surprised but of course she kissed him back and then when they had no choice but to break apart for air she smiled softly at him but before she could say anything To by beat her to the punch.
“So, when do we leave?” He asked and she stared at him with confusion on her face. “Y-you actually want to come with me?” She asked and he nodded before cupping her face with his hands.
“Hey, I'm with you, okay? Always.” Toby said smiling at her and she couldn't help but start to cry tears of joy, which were quickly wiped away by Toby. “You don't know how happy I am right now…. But Tobes are you sure about this? I me a you'd really be okay with leaving Rosewood and moving to London with me for who knows how long?” Spencer asked and he nodded. “Absolutely.” Toby said. “But you'd be leaving your family.” Spencer said and Toby shook his head. “Spencer…. You are my family, and I want to be wherever you are, so if this is really what you want to do…. Then I say let's do this.” Toby said smiling at her and Spencer laughed softly and smiled back at him. “You really are something else Tobias, and I don't know why I did to deserve you.” She said. “I'm the lucky one here Spence, and there was no way that I was going to let you go to London alone, we're a team remember? I promised you that you would never be alone, not even for a second.” Toby said and Spencer smiled. “I can't believe you remember that.” She said. “Of course I remember telling you that, you are my everything Spence and I love you more than anything else in the world.” Toby said.
“I wanted to say that first.” Spencer said smiling at him and they both laughed and then Toby kissed her passionately and Spencer kissed him back, grateful that she was always going to have her safe place to land.
