7x11 one shot
Toby sings "falling slowly" to Spencer while she's in her coma.
Toby sat by Spencer's bedside where he has been for the past week waiting for her to wake up from her coma. Coma. She was in a coma and she had been shot. The words still haven't really registered with him, he just wants his Spencer back.
"Spence," Toby started to talk to her like he has been every day since she's been unconscious. "I know I keep saying this but I'm just going to keep saying it until you listen to me and wake up because I know you can hear me." Toby said, resisting the urge to cry yet again.
"There's some things we need to talk about..... I still love you Spence, I always have and I always will, I never really stopped and you and I both know you never stopped loving me either." he said and then he kissed her hand that he was holding. "You need to wake up because I can't do this without you." He said as tears threatened to spill out of his bright blue eyes.
"I know one of the million things you love about me is when I would sing to you, and I know this is one of your favorite songs and uh, I think it's pretty fitting for right now so...." he said, his voice cracking at the end and then he pressed a kiss to Spencer's forehead and then with his hand that wasn't holding onto hers, in hopes that she might give it a squeeze to let him know she is still here with him, he began to gently stroke her hair and then started to sing to her,
"Take this sinking boat and point it home we've still got time,
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You'll make it now,
He hoped for any sign of movement from her fingers, or anything for that matter, but nothing yet so he just continued to sing to her, the love of his life.
Falling Slowly, eyes that know me and I can't go back, moods that take me and erase me and I'm painted black,

The tears finally started to slowly fall from his sad, tired eyes as he kept singing,

After he finished singing he quickly tried to wipe his tears away, which wasn't really working, and he just kept looking at Spencer hoping her eyes would open.
"I love you so much, you know that right?
Please Spence open your eyes come back to me please." Toby begged as more tears fell down his cheeks, he kept looking at her beautiful face and then turned his attention back to her hand. "Come on baby, just squeeze my hand, please Spence squeeze my hand if you can hear me." He pleaded with her and then a few seconds after that he could've sworn he felt her fingers move a little in his hand. "Spence?" He croaked her name desperately. "Spence can you hear me?" He cried and not taking his eyes off her hand then that's when he felt it, Spencer tightly squeezed his hand. "Spence?" He said with a hint of hope in his voice and he quickly looked up at her and sure enough,
Her eyes were open. Open. She was awake.
Finally he was one again staring into her brown eyes that he loved so much. She was smiling at him.
"Tobes. You're here." She managed to say although her strength was still not all the back yet. He was smiling widely back at her and then said "Of course I'm here Spence, I would never leave you, you know that. I made that mistake five years ago and you don't know how much I've regretted that. I'm so sorry Spence, but I am never making that mistake again okay? If you'll take me back that is." He smirked at her and she giggled and then replied "I would be stupid if I didn't say yes, I never stopped loving you either Tobias Cavanaugh, you were right." He was still smiling at her so thankful that she came back to him, but then he thought for a minute about what she had just said.
I never stopped loving you either. You were right. But he didn't just say that, he had said that a few minutes ago, which now felt like hours ago, when she was still unconscious. She had heard him.
"You-you heard me earlier?" Toby said smirking at her. "Of course, You were right I could hear you the whole time Tobes, I kept trying to hard to wake up and tell you that I love you too but I just couldn't." Spencer said, tears beginning to roll down her cheeks and Toby quickly brushed them away with his thumb and said "Hey it's okay, you came back to me now, that's all that matters okay?" She smiled and said "Okay, thank you by the way, for singing to me, I've missed it." He smiled At her and said "Anything for you baby girl." She smiled back and then said
"Toby?"
"Yeah Spence?"
"Kiss me Cavanaugh."
And Toby happily gave her what she wanted.
"I love you. So much" Spencer said.
"I wanted to say that first." Toby smiled at her and kissed her again. Spencer then asked "Can I ask for one more thing?"
Toby happily said "Anything Spence you know that." He stroked her hair again.
"Hold me." Toby didn't need to be told twice,
He gently reached forward and helped Spencer up into his arms and hugged her, and he didn't plan on letting go either.
