A/N: So in case I haven't said this before...I changed Thomas' and Alex's age gap.
When Alex first met Thomas they were only friends so I let one be 17 and one 19.
(I think if u know which is historically older than the other you can tell Alex was 17 and Thomas was 19.)
13 years later...Alex is 30 and Thomas 32 so it's totally fine now right? Cool. Now on with the story!

"In the end, we only regret the chances we didn't take, relationships we were afraid to have, and the decisions we waited too long to make."

Thomas' POV
I looked over at Alex, then at my phone.
Almost midnight, I thought, I should get Alex home.
"It's late, I should get you home." I said, voicing my thoughts.
"Okay." Alex said, walking towards my truck.
I got into the driver's seat and left the park behind.

During the trip back, Alex still remained quiet. He looked like he was writing things down in his notebook.

"What?" Alex asked, seeming confused as he closed the notebook and set it down on the armrest. "I told you nothing's–"
"Don't lie to me Alexander," I snapped, "I know when something's bothering you. It's none of my business so if you don't tell me that's fine."
I glanced away from the road to look at him for a second.
"Just know that I'm here for you."
When I looked over at him a second time, he was still silenced.

"Remember..." I heard Alex say suddenly. I looked over at him, he smiled bitter-sweetly, as if recalling a fond memory, "remember all the trouble we use to cause?"
I laughed, nodding. "Most of that was your fault, you know Alexander."
We both laughed, but he took on a serious tone,
"I wish we could still be like that.."
"Why can't we?" I announced, surprising him. He seemed only sadder because of my comment.
"Oh Thomas, you know we can't, we're in New York." Alex said, gesturing outside, the large city now in view. "Besides, you're leaving at the end of the month, and I'm heading back to work. We won't have time to make the memories we used—"
