Chapter 22

Chris and I didn't even look at each other the next day. Nothing else happened between us, but things did happen around us. There were sides. Sage was with Chris so that meant that Alex was on their side and so Nick sided with them too since he's just that much of a wimp. Carl and Sam 2 were with Chris too. Brett, Ashley, Ben, Lasharee and Sam 1 sided with me. I'm guessed that Brett told everyone my side of the story and Sage told everyone Chris' side of the story. Here's the thing though, as far as I know, neither me or Chris talked to anyone the next few days. I talked to Brett, Mom and Gio but that was really it. Felicia even kept her distance.

There was mild tension at Gene's house when we had practice and Brianna couldn't stand it. She almost pushed Sam 2 down a flight of stairs out her anger. Thankfully, Gene pulled her away from him just in time.

"I'm thinking that you need to talk to Chris. This anger between everyone is insane and it needs to stop."

"I don't care." It was the end of the week, Friday, and Brett and I were on my bed. I had been moping around and I think that between that and everything not being peaceful, he was over the edge."

"Get your butt right now and go over to Chris' house."

"I don't feel like it."

"Go get on your bike and ride it over there."

"No." And then I was pushed off of my bed.

"Say something like that again and I will push you off of chairs too."

"Alright then." I set off and went to Chris' house. I knocked on the door and his mom answered the door.

"Nikki! I haven't seen you since Christmastime! How've you been?"

"I'm fine. Is Chris here?"

"Yes. He's in his room, Sage might be in there."

"Okay." She let me come in and I nearly forgot where Chris' room was. Then I remembered that it was two doors down in the right from the living room. I knocked on his door and Sage opened it.

"Hi, Nikki," she smiled. "I was just going, see you at practice." Sage stepped out and walked away. I promise you that I thought that she would've been made at me.

Chris was on his bed and stared at me.

"I'm sorry. It was all my fault. I don't know how I'll ever be able to make this up to you." I smiled at what Chris said and opened my arms for a hug. Chris quickly embraced me.

"I missed my best friend," I whispered. "And all I want is at least two Dregrassi Fridays a month."

"Thanks."

"So what've I missed?"

"Well I still have problems with Brett and Ben."

"Well, even though you and Ben were really only physical -as far as I know- I think that you guys are meant to be together. Brett seems to be just a short chapter in your life."

"Thanks for your honesty," I said sarcastically. "It's just that I think of Ben whenever we start moving too fast."

"I'm guessing that you mean that you and Brett were about to have sex, but Ben kept popping up in your head. And you thought that Ben would extinguish all of your needs and wants, whereas Brett wouldn't completely satisfy you."

"Thanks so much for your blunt opinions."

"I'm sorry, but I just need to be honest with. You need to break up with Brett, ASAP."

"I'm not breaking up with Brett. That's not cool."

"You're basically mentally cheating on him, though."
