The sun shone through the window in her eyes. She opened her eyes slowly, to see that she wasn't at home but back in the Café. When she tried to sit up, pain rushed through her stomach. She cried out in pain and Joly appeared in the door.

"Bonjour Mademoiselle. I heard you cry. Are you in pain?", the young doctor asked. She nodded. She was in pain. "What happened to me?" "You were attacked. Combeferre found you and brought you here."

After Joly had given her painkillers, she got out of bed and walked into the Café. Everything was hurting. Then something grabbed her waist. No, not something. Someone. That someone was Courfeyrac. She tried not to let out a cry. "Courfeyrac, not that hard. You're hurting her." He let go of her immediately.

"Hurting her? How?", he asked. "She was attacked last night. I found her on the ground.", Combeferre explained. "And you didn't bother to inform me, like at all?" "I just did. I knew you were going to react like this.", Combeferre said, rolling his eyes. Then he walked away, probably to get some coffee.

"Who did this to you? Juliette. Please, talk to me." "I don't know. I don't know who did it. I didn't see a face.", she said. Courfeyrac hugged her. He was going to protect her. Forever. Then he knew it. He really loved her.

How can one person fall in love so fast? It was a mystery for him. He had admitted that he loved her, had kissed her several times already and she was his girlfriend but he started to realize that his life is so much brighter now, that she's here.

"Juliette, I'm going to get you home now. Your father must be worried.", he said, she nodded and then he helped her up. They hurried down the stairs (well as fast as possible it was for Juliette) and out of the Café.

"Mon chérie, why are you so silent? I'm not used to that." He kept looking at her. She stayed silent. Courfeyrac understood. She must think that he wouldn't protect her if she was being attacked again. He already felt like he has failed as a boyfriend. "Juliette, are you mad at me?" She looked at him with tears in her eyes. She shook her head.

"Talk to me." He stood in front of her now, not letting her pass. "Has it something to do with me?" "No. It's just— I feel ashamed walking in those streets. My bruises, my face. It looks horrible. You shouldn't look at me either." Then she turned away from him.

He took another step forward and embraced her into another hug. This time she cried in his shoulder. He didn't leave her and he never will.

"I love you." A small voice said. She wasn't crying anymore but she wasn't smiling either. "I love you too Juliette."

(AN: This chapter is like really short. I'm thinking of making a time jump in the next chapter so I can finally start developing their relationship. This fanfic is already planned out to the end. I hope you like this chapter.)
