The sound of the click when I twist the key in the lock is relaxing. I turn the door knob , pushing the door open. The silence in the apartment that welcomes me is soothing. In the last couple of months, I have been getting comfortable and getting the vibes of home here.
I throw the keys in the bowl and kick my shoes off. I drop the bag at the foot of the sofa and flip on it, staring at the ceiling. I have homework to get done in molecular biology before I go out.
Just thinking about the later is making my body vibrate with excitement. But I lock it away, keeping a tight lid on it. I have to get the former done before I move on to other plans.
First things first, I need to have a sandwich before I start to work on my studies.
I grab all the stuff I need from the refrigerator, setting them on the counter and walk to the pantry and open it up to look for the bread.
I am nearly done with making my sandwich when I hear my phone chime.
I wash my hands and carry my plate to the living room. Setting the plate down, I take the phone out from the bag.
There is a new message. From Alex.
A smile starts spreading my face even before I have even read his message.
Alex: You coming?
Finally, I have caved in and decided to go and watch a game. And that is going to be today. I don't know if I am excited about watching the match or getting to watch Alex play.
Me: Yes. Be there in a couple of hours.
Alex: Vivian is going to save a seat for you.
Me: Okay. Best of luck! :)
I turn off my phone to have no distractions. I Finish my homework quickly than I thought it was possible even when the thoughts of Alex lurked at the back of my mind.
I book an Uber so that by the time he arrives I will ready. I hastily change into jeans and tee. I pull my hair into a ponytail and grab my skids before grabbing my phone and purse from the coffee table.
*****
The stadium is crowded. Is it always this crowded or only today? Like I would know.
I scan through the crowd searching for Vivian. Soon I find her on the bottom row cheering and clapping so hard it is a wonder that how she is still sitting in her seat. I move towards her, it is not a simple task. I have never said excuse me so many times I have in my entire life.
Finally, I reach Vivian and she breaks her eye from the field and turns my side.
"Hey, Tris." Her voice is high pitched from the shouting and cheering.
"Hi, Vivian. Have I come late?" I ask her while taking a seat beside her.
"Call me Vee. And no. You have just missed the first half but it doesn't matter. You are here now."
I just smile at her. I search for Alex among the players. Everyone is wearing a helmet so it takes more time than usual but eventually, I find him.
He wearing a jersey with his name and 3 number.
If Alex is hot in a casual attire then he is hotter in sweat dripped jersey. The tights cling to his skin, leaving nothing to imagination. I am so immersed at looking, Alex, I have nearly missed what Vee has said.
"It's not just him then." She is no longer looking at the field but staring at me, her green eyes seem alive and fresh.
"What?" I ask her confused by her statement.
