Chapter 14

On Thursday, I meet Vivian- or Vee as she insists- at a restaurant which is small, cosy and crowded with college students and people who work near the campus. The tables are small and round that occasionally I bump my legs with Vee. If I move as much as 3 feet away from seat then I would hear the literally hear other's conversation. That's how crowded it is here.

Vee is looking her gorgeous self, dressed in black skinny jeans and white top. Her hair is set loose. Even though I am also wearing the same outfit, Vee pulls it off as a model.

The waiter took our order. I ordered pasta in white sauce and Vee opted for a chicken salad with avocado.

I fall into the easy company of Vee. Vee is smart, funny, beautiful and carefree, all the things I always want to be but can never be. Because of the past, I have stopped living, now I am just floating above the waters afraid that I will stop surviving also.

Vee doesn't allow me to linger long with my thoughts, she asks me a zillion questions about my coursework. But she is not invasive, she was just asking out of her curiosity. Vee has a friendly vibe around her that allows people to feel relax.

"How did you met Logan?" I ask while taking a bite of the pasta.

"Didn't Alex tell you?" I merely shake my head. "Always minds his own business. We both had the same class together in the first semester. We both didn't know each other before we were made partners in a project. I first thought him of him has asshat, slowly he grew on me. Now we are partners in real life."

She is clear that she is in love with Logan. It is easily seen in her eyes. The adoration for him, the spark in her eye when she is talking about him. This must be the feeling of love.

"Oh. It's great that you two have been together for three years."

"Yes. When I first saw Logan and Alex together, it was like staring at Mr.Bingley and Mr.Darcy."

"What ?"I squeak.

"Really. Logan is easy going and flirty whereas Alex is calm and collected. Just like opposite poles. They both balance each other perfectly."

When I think about it, I realize she is right. Logan is friendly, making him seem like you can go and have a beer with him. But Alex is unattainable, you can't reach till he allows you.

"Yes. You are right."

I shouldn't be asking her the next question. But curiosity killed the damn cat.

"What did you thought about Alex when you first met him?" I piped.

"I thought him to be the first class jerk but once you know Alex. You forget about everything because he is good at heart and that is all it matters."

I nod like a fool that I am. Alex is really someone who you cannot resist.

No. No. I should not be thinking about Alex. I repeat it a thousand times but I am back to square one. It's as if I am under his spell. The more I get to know about him, the more it is hard for me to ignore him. These days it is way too hard for me to not think about since the DREAM KISS.

The rest of the lunch Vee and I talk about college, movies and future. By the end of the lunch, I don't like Vee. I love her.

"You should totally come To Daniel's party tonight." She is clearly excited about the party.

"I don't even know who Daniel is."

"Does it matter? Nobody knows anybody but they just go. You should come with us. Alex is also coming." She insists.
