Thank you, Alex!

This is the thought that is swirling around my mind. I wanted to talk to Amy for a very long time, here I am reconciled with her and it is because of him. He made me realize that people will stand by me only when I will trust them. I smile knowingly while laying on my bed beside Amy.

We both are basking in each other's company not needing any words to fill up the silence. But not for too long. The moment is burst with the ring of Amy's mobile.

"Shit. My father is calling me."

"Do you have to leave so soon?" I am not ready to part with her yet.

Instead of answering me she takes the call. She listens to whatever Mr.Emerson is saying- shouting as I can faintly hear his voice till here.

"Father, I can't come. I am staying the night here." Amy's voice has a bit of steel in it. Another few seconds pass by before she answers.

"I know, father. That's what I am doing." With that, she hangs up.

"Why is your father getting riled up?" I ask worriedly.

"The usual. Where are you, Amanda? We are leaving. This is family time and you should be spending it with us. I said that's I am doing." Amy imitates Mr.Emerson's voice.

My heart melts at her words. Amy and her parents have never been on the same page. Now I realize I have lost my parents just two years back, Amy's parents are alive but really not there. I pull her towards me and hug her once again.

"So what are we going to do?"

"Let me think." She taps her chin as if she is thinking really hard. "We are going to catch up with each other's life."

"Sounds pretty cool." I grin.

Amy opens her mouth to speak, before a word can escape out of her mouth, her stomach speaks up.

"Shall we eat?" I nod at her.
We get out of the bed and go downstairs. We check the coast before we enter the dining room. There are still some people in the room. We go to the buffet table and start to fill our plates. A hand touches my shoulder and I turn to the person.

"There you are. I thought you ran away to Boston." Esme has glow in her cheeks and a spark in her eyes. This is the most I have seen her happy. Esme finally sees who is beside me. Recognition flashes in her eyes before she conceals it.

"Oh, Amy. How nice to meet you. I didn't get a chance to meet you earlier."

"You greeted me and my parents at the front door, Esme."  Amy is amused. I narrow my eyes at Esme. I open my mouth but am interrupted m.

"Mrs.Perry." She waves her enthusiastically and is already moving away from us. "I will talk to you girls later." With that Esme slips away. I surely will have a talk with her later.

Amy and I steal a Moët Bottle from the kitchen before we go upstairs. The entire night we did nothing but talk.

"What was your father asking about? Bring some sense into you?"

Amy takes a sip from her glass. "My father wanted me to take history major and said if I didn't then he is going to cut me off. Thankfully, my grandfather who knew what a jerk my father is, kept a trust fund on my name before he died to which I will access after my eighteen birthday. So.... I have enrolled my name for Arts degree at the University of Kentucky."
