"What..... What is the name of your brother?" I stutter, shocked to the core to know that Alex brother is dead. for a moment, I think that she may have not heard me but she answers after some time.

"Theodore. We all used to call him Theo." Nic inhales sharply, the death of her brother still taking a toll on her.

Now I understand some of Alex sudden mood swings and sentences he said to me when I am at my lowest. I thought may not know my pain and is only giving me pity and sympathy but I never knew that he also shares the same pain as mine.

"How?" I choke out the word because of the lump formed in my throat.

"Sorry, Tris. Wish I can tell you that. but it should be Alex from whom you should hear." She smiles apologetically at me. I look back at the picture of three people smiling brightly. Three people who can never have they old selves back.

"I am sorry. I dampened our mood." Nic murmurs.

"No. Thank you for telling me." Because if you haven't told me maybe I could have never know about this. Nic and I stay right there rooted in our stuff positions, lost in our thoughts. Me trying yo imagine how they three used to be like and  Nic possibly thinking about all those locked up memories.

"Come on. Let's go downstairs." I nod weakly and start towards the door. Nic's voice stops me descending down the stairs.

"You go ahead. I will be right back." She smiles tightly and heads back to her room.

I try to regain the jovial mood which I had not fifteen minutes back, which seems to be long lost in the valley of secrets. I tell myself that it doesn't matter that Alex hasn't told me any of this. But every time I tell myself that I can't help but wonder if he ever planned to tell me about any of this. I am so distracted in my own thoughts, that I accidentally bump into Eloise.

"There you are. You lot disappeared suddenly." Eloise accuses.

"Nic was giving me a tour." I smile the fake smile I have used many times since my parent's death.

"Where is she?" She stared up at me.

"She said she will come in few minutes."

"Oh. Well, come on. The dessert has been waiting for a while now."

"Yes."

"Let me just call Ionah and Alex." I stop her from climbing the stairs.

"I will call them." I offer.

"You sure?" Eloise asks uncertainly.

"Yes." I smile at her.

"Okay, then. Jonah's office is on the first level in the right hallway, second door in the right."

"Okay." I slip away from Eloise fastly, keen to put distance between me and Eloise. I don't want to be alone with Eloise because she has that motherly look on her face which I am sure will make me spill my guts. Low lights are turned on the first level, the second door in the right is left open ajar.

"For goodness sake Alex, it would help the case if only you can tell us why you hit him?" Mr. Frost frustrated voice reaches my ear.

I know I shouldn't be eavesdropping but after knowing that Alex brother Theo dies five years ago, I am a little bit hurt, I have told Alex all about my parent's death and my guilt, he could have mentioned about his dead brother but he didn't and by doing so he hurt. A lot. I know whatever it is Alex and his father are talking, Alex wouldn't share with me even after asking him. Carefully so that they can't hear the creaking sound or clicking sound of my heels, I creep towards the room which must be his father's office.
