The Elemental Four: Chapter Thirteen

Three days.

That's how long Ace had been out.

He wasn't dead. He was breathing just fine, but he wouldn't wake up either.

Caleb, Lilah and I have barley spoken to each other. I blamed myself more than anything for this happening. If only I would have remembered the fact that there were two Werecats. I should have thought of it.

"The fire's going out" Lilah stated. Usually Ace would just jump up and light it up for us. But he couldn't.

"I'll go get more wood" Caleb said, standing up.

"'I'll go with you" Lilah said with her head down. They both turned around and walked away further into the woods. I sighed and continue watching the little fire dying.

"I'm sorry Ace" I whispered.

And all it was was silence.

I heard nothing.

"You didn't give me a bath, did you?" I spun around. Ace opened his eyes slightly and tried to sit up. But he groaned and just laid back down.

"You’re hurt. Be careful" I said, running over to his side.

"I'm ok. How long was I out?" He asked.

"Three days" I smiled as tears began to fill my eyes. He wasn't dead!

"Did Lilah knock me out or something?" I laughed as I let the tears roll down my cheeks.

"No. The Werecat got you. And it's my fault"

"Did you send it to get even for that pillow I stole from your house?" He asked, "Cuz I can just give it back" I laughed again and then shook my head.

"I should have been watching your back, but I wasn't. And you almost died" He put his hand on my cheek and wiped away the tears.

"It was not your fault" He tried to comfort me, but it wasn't working. "Besides, I always wanted to feel how getting scratched by a kitty felt like." He winked smiling. I laughed again. "Can you help me up? My back is killing me" I stood up and held out my hand. He took it and I pulled him up. I let go of him for a second and his legs shook as he crashed towards the ground.

 I caught him last second and helped lift him up. "Crap. That's embarrassing" he laughed. I just laughed at him when a voice erupted:

"Well isn't this cute" I turned around and there was Scott. One of the vampires from the gym.

"How did you find us?" He just smiled.

"I could smell you. Your scent was so strong. Isabella, your other friend from the school, didn't believe me. She told me to go off on my own. Oh wait until I get back to her and tell her I had two Elementals for lunch" He smiled, showing us his fangs.

"Do your legs work now?" I asked Ace.

"I think so"

"Run!" I yelled, grabbing his hand and pulling him into the woods.

"Oh, I like a good game of hide and seek before dinner." I heard him say as we ran

"Where the hell do we hide?!" Ace called.

"Doesn't matter, I'll find you anyways." I heard Scott's voice very close.

"Wait" I called stopping.

"What? This isn't the time to catch your breath?!" Ace shouted.

"We’re in the woods. This is my playground" I smiled, looking back at him.

"You’re crazy!"

"Just go hide in a tree. I'll take care of him"

"I'm not leaving you" He said. I put my hand toward the nearest tree and commanded the branch to wrap around Ace’s ankle and pick him up, holding him there. He screamed the whole time as he was dragged into the tree.

"You heard the lady, Wuss" Scott said, from a few trees away.

"Zeya!" Ace yelled as I ran away. I hid behind the nearest tree as Scott ran around the corner. He looked up at Ace and laughed.

"Well hey there Twilight" Ace smiled.

"She left you here? To die? Wow. That has to suck"

"Nah, I'm just chilling. You should tree it, it's very relaxing." Ace said, "And seems like you need a good nap. Have you seen yourself lately?" The vampire growled and I took it as my cue. I put my hand towards the nearest tree and flew a branch at him. It stabbed into Scott's side and he groaned as I walked around the corner. He started laughing.

"You think that will kill me?" He pulled it out and threw it to the side. "It has to be in the heart honey"

"Best two out of three" I smiled, throwing another branch his way. He snatched it inches away from his heart.

"You throw like a little and helpless girl." Scott took a step closer. I did it again and again but Scott just kept catching them and stepping closer and closer Soon he caught the last branch and was only inches away from my face.

"Hello there, food." He winked and smiled showing his fangs.

"Haha. Hi?" I smiled, hoping it would somehow change his mind

"Your blood should give me power to get the other two." He said.

"Zeya! Undo my branch!"Ace yelled, trying to pull himself up to undo the branch around his ankle but he didn’t' have the strength to do it.

"Don't be so impatient to die, young one. Your turn will come at its due time."

"You’re so annoying!" Ace yelled. Scott turned towards him.

"I'll get to you next! Don't worry" While Scott wasn't looking I put my hand behind my back and grabbed another branch.

"Over my dead body" I yelled, stabbing the branch into his heart. He screeched in pain.

"Zeya?" I looked over to see Caleb and Lilah standing there.

"One second" I said before turning back to Scott and pulling it out of him. He fell onto his knees as his veins became visible. You could see them on the side of his neck as his body slowly turned into a pile of dust. I turned back to them and smiled. "Hey guys"

"Zeya! All the blood is rushing to my head! Let me down!" Ace whined.

"What was that?" Caleb asked. I undid Ace's branch and he yelled as he crashed against the ground face first.

"Ace?" Lilah questioned.

"Ace woke up and a vampire tried to kill us. Surprise" I smiled as Ace just groaned.

"You need to work on your powers." Ace said, rubbing his face. "And no, I'm Santa Clause, dummy."

"Well it’s great to have you back" Lilah joked, walking past me with the firewood.

"Well she missed me" Ace said getting up.

"You have no idea, man." Caleb said, patting him on the back. "Nice having you back."
