Zeya's POV
We were all in a good mood. Not only because right now we were looking at the Grand Canyon and were so close to the piece but also because we all had finally showered and slept on a bed.
"So what do we do now?" Lilah asked.
"We wait for one of the tour groups to pass by and then join it" Caleb instructed.
"Why? Why can't we just go down there and look it up?" Ace asked, looking over to the canyon.
"Because this isn't time to argue okay? The tour group stops right in front of us. It gives us enough time to sneak out of the woods and into the group" Caleb said turning his attention back to the canyon. We stayed quiet for a couple minutes until the group came up. The tour guide stopped the group and told them some boring facts while they listened along and took pictures. "Now" Caleb whispered. We all emerged out of the woods and into the group. Caleb was wearing a hat, Ace and I were wearing sunglasses and Lilah put all her hair in a bun and a hat over it.
We spread out within the group when they started walking. It was five minutes until we passed the first 'DO NOT ENTER' sign. Another five minutes we passed the second one and by that time Ace was losing his patience. He kept leaning back and whispering something to Caleb, which only made him angry.
But he managed to last another five minutes when we got to the third sign. The group stopped to take some more pictures and Caleb slid under the small metal chain holding the sign up. Ace went next, then Lilah, followed by me. We took off our hats and glasses and then ran down the stairs as fast as we could.
No one saw us, perfect.
We turned the corner but what we saw next, we didn't expect. The canyon separated into three different parts.
"Which one is it?" Ace asked.
"I have no idea" Caleb answered.
"We have to spilt up" Lilah said. We all looked to her. But something was off to me. A weird feeling ran through my body and it was as if something was calling me. I took a step forward and the feeling just grew stronger and stronger.
"Zeya, you okay?" Caleb asked.
"Yeah. I'll go down the middle" I turned back to them.
"I'll take the left" Caleb said, turning to Lilah. "You guys take the right?" He asked.
"Ok-" Lilah started but Ace interrupted her.
"I'll go with Zeya" He said moving past Lilah. I only nodded and started down the middle. Lilah sighed and left. We started walking down the path but that feeling only got stronger and stronger. My heart was beating out of its chest and my palms were sweating. Ace turned to me, putting a hand on my shoulder.
“Relax” He smiled walking ahead of me.
But I couldn't. I wasn't nervous, it was something else.
"So how does this piece look like again?" I asked.
"I have no idea" He shrugged. I stopped walking and he turned to me. "What?"
"If we don't know what it looks like how do we know when we find it?" I questioned. He opened his mouth to talk but it was filled with Lilah's screams. I spun around.
"Lilah!" I yelled.
"She's probably fine" Ace mumbled.
"Did you not just here her scream?!"
"I'll go check it out then, okay?" He snapped, walking past me. I turned around and watched him walk away. I wanted more than anything to go after him but that feeling in my heart was stronger than anything. So I turned around and kept walking.
