The Elemental Four: Chapter Thirty

Zeya's POV

We had left about an hour or so ago. It was starting to get dark. Ace, Lilah and Caleb were walking ahead of us, leading the way as if they knew where to go. Kila was standing next to me. I glanced over at her. She kept looking over at me.

"You can trust me. I'm not going to tell them" I smiled.

"I've learned that no one can be trusted" She sneered.

"Who hurt you so bad that you can trust again?" I asked.

"I don't talk about feelings and all of that crap" She said crossing her arms over her chest.

"Either tell me or I’ll tell them" I threatened, having a plan in mind.

"Tell them and I kill you"

"You can't kill me. You’re a Guardian. You’re supposed to protect me" I smiled.

"Is this blackmail?" She questioned; I only nodded. "I like that attitude” She laughed.

"Come on, just tell me." I said.

"Well. I don't even know where to begin"

"Start by telling me who Tyler was" She sighed and looked down.

"Tyler was a vampire. I was hunting his nest when I first met him. I tried to kill him but when his house was about to blow up he saved me, instead of leaving me like all the other hunters for dead. But I still broke a couple ribs. He took me back home and stayed with me until I was fully healed and I... I just fell in love with him"

"And then?" I asked, knowing there was more.

"Well I left one day and.... When I got back there was a bunch of hunters putting out a fire. When I asked them what they were doing, they said a vampire was inside waiting for me... and that they... uh" I could see tears forming in her eyes "got rid of him..."

"Just like that?" I asked. She nodded.

 "And there was nothing I could do"

"I'm sorry, Kila." I said, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"Well, yeah...anyways, since when are you two dating?" She asked, looking from Caleb to me. Kila pulled away and Caleb turned around.

"What are you two talking about?"

"Nothing!" I said, quickly and looking up to the sky. Lilah spun around and frowned.

"What are you looking at?" Kila snapped.

"I was just checking to see if Aiden was here" Lilah said turning around and stopping. Kila kept walking.

"Don't worry your mutt's not here yet"

"His name is AIDEN!"

"No I’m pretty sure it's mutt" Kila smiled, stopping and turning around to face him.

"No, it is not!" She replied, glaring at her.

“I'm pretty sure it is. And if you think any different than why don't you just do something about it" Kila crossed her arms over her chest and wore an evil smile on her face.

"Stop it you two!" Caleb said, dropping his backpack down. "We are camping here for the night. That will give him some time to catch up and if he is not here by morning...well, sorry Lilah, but we have to leave without him."

"Waiting for this mutt is stupid" Kila mumbled to herself. Ace dropped his backpack and sighed, sitting down. I turned around, hearing an odd sound. While the others were fighting I slowly walked away.
