The Elemental Four: Chapter Eighteen

"Elijah where are we going?" I complained. I'd much rather be by Caleb's side and not walking through the woods having no clue as to what's going on.

"Relax, will you? Caleb will be fine." Elijah said from the front side. "I'll teach you how to fight, and defend yourself."

 "What?!" I asked stopping. He sighed and turned around to face me. 

"Well this is a good spot then"

"You were serious about the whole teaching me how to fight then?" I asked, awestruck it.

"Well yeah!" He smiled

I sighed and threw my head down. "Fine, but better be quick." I said.

And without warning he ran towards me. Something inside of me kicked in and without thinking about it I sent an uppercut to his jaw before tripping his legs out from underneath him and slamming him to the ground. 

"Didn't see that one coming." Elijah said, looking at the sky with wide eyes.

"I'm so sorry!" I said sticking a hand out to him. He groaned and took my hand and I helped him up "So what just happened?"                

 "That was a test. You see you were calm and relaxed around me. So when something happened your instincts kicked in"

"Say what?"

 "Your instincts. You channeled them right then when I attacked you"

"You sure? I think it was more like a little grudge I have towards you." I said, jokingly.

 He laughed but then got all serious again. "Now. I have some bad news. I wanted to lighten the mood first"

"Well, you pretty much did." I said.

"Zeya. Caleb's dead" My heart stopped.

 He's kidding right? But that look on his face. He was so serious.

 I looked down and tried my best to hold back tears. Elijah charged me and I only had time to attempt to push him back. But it didn't work and he ended up landing on top of me.

"What was that about?!" I yelled. "You just told me Caleb was dead and charged at me?! Are you out of your mind?"

 "You see when your upset or nervous or mad your instincts don't work. That's why you have to work on calming yourself down"     

"So Caleb's not dead"    

"Yeah he's fine" I laughed in relief before looking back into those big gorgeous brown eyes. We just looked at each other for a second before he jumped up. He cleared his throat and offered his hand. "Ok, now let's see what you got." He smiled.

I nodded and closed my eyes for a second, taking in a deep breath.

"What? Tired already?" He asked, smiling down at me. 

I opened my eyes and something burst in my heart. And as Elijah approached me it seemed my mind had already decided on a battle plan. As he charged me my hand flew out towards the tree behind him. The branch extended and wrapped around his waist sending him flying back against the tree. And then another branch wrapped around his foot. The one around his waist let go and the other one pulled him up. he was now dangling upside down.

"I'm starting to have second thoughts about this teaching." He said, crossing his arms while upside down.

I laughed. "How did I do that?"

"Instincts" he smiled.

"Well, my instincts don't want me to let you down." I joked.

"Hey, come on this isn't fair. Let me down"

 "I don't know. You look kind of cute like that." I said, and blushed after I realized what I said.

 "Ha ha ha" I then undid the branch and fell right down on his face. I couldn't help but laugh. "Oh you think that's funny?"

"Maybe." I said, trying to control my laughs. He ran towards me and I laughed before taking off running. Now it's time to practice my hiding spots.

"Hey, Zeya! Come back here!" He called after me. I couldn't help but laugh. "Zeya it's not safe to run off by yourself!" He yelled.

Please, I can take care of myself.

I was jumping over a tree when someone else tackled me. I didn't know who it was, but next thing I know the person was hanging upside down.

 I turned around with a laugh thinking it was Elijah but the person standing before me wasn't him at all. This guy had black hair which he had spiked up at the top and cold brown eyes.

"Who are you?!" I demanded

"Hey, relax." He said, his hands hanging below his head. "I'm-"

"Jacob!" Elijah said, catching up with us. "What are you doing here, man?"

"Hey there Elijah. I heard  The Elementals were in town and well... I just wanted to say hello?"

"So you say hello by tackling me?" I asked.

"He tackled you?" Elijah asked stepping in front of me and putting his hands on my face. "Are you alright?"

"Hey, I'm the one upside down here!" Jacob said, his face going red-ish. I let him go and he fell. Elijah turned around but he didn't step from being in front of me.  

"Come on Elijah, you don't trust me?"

"We, both, know the answer to that." He said, glaring at him.

"I don't know where his hostility is coming from Elijah. I thought we were great friends"          

"Come on Zeya let's go"

"Hey, come on!" Just as we turned to leave he grabbed my arm and pulled me back against his body. My heart started racing, was he going to kill me.

"You know, I love her scent. It's so fresh and new"

"Let her go, Jacob." Elijah said, glaring at him.

"Or what?"  

"Or i'll rip your throat out with my teeth" He just held me close to him for a second, smelling me. And then he pushed me away from him. I almost fell but Elijah caught me and held me in his arms.

"Don't worry, I won't hurt you girlfriend. I'll save that for later...when she turns into a vampire too." He laughed and walked away. Elijah pulled me closer when he said that but as as soon as Jacob was out of sight he let go.

"What is he talking about?" He asked. But him learning about Isabella right now shouldn't be happening. He shouldn't find out like this. So I lied.

"I don't know, he's just trying to get under your skin" He was silent "Come on, let's go check on Caleb." I said, trying to change the subject. He just nodded before walking away. "Who was that anyway?" I asked when we got back to the camp. 

"Jacob Lawrence." He just said, walking to Caleb's tent. I guess he didn't want to talk about it "Crap!" I walked in and looked at Elijah.

"What?" He moved aside and Caleb's bed was empty.

"Where is he?" I exclaimed.
