The dark
Is the best place to hide,
Because no one can see you cry,
But you can still hear your friends,
When they tell you everything will be alright.
The dark
Is the best place to think,
Because there are no distractions,
Only interactions
Between you and your thoughts and your mind.
The dark
Is the best place to feel,
To release those clashing beasts inside,
The unchecked emotions behind your eyes,
All the confusing feelings in your life.
But sadly,
The dark is where most people are afraid.
They're too afraid to cry,
Because they feel ashamed of misty eyes.
They're too afraid to think,
Because they're terrified of the thoughts inside their mind,
They can't bear to uncover every lie
They've been telling themselves.
They're too afraid to feel,
Too afraid to heal,
Because they might find something they don't want to,
They might realize that their life is too bleak,
That they're too afraid to sleep,
Feel too sick to eat,
And they don't want to seek
Help,
So they keep
It to themselves,
They can't leave
From this hell,
They don't feel
So well,
They just want to see,
That's all,
But they can't see
It's too dark,
You have to learn
To walk,
Without your eyes.
You have to learn to cry,
To release everything inside.
You have to learn to think,
So your thoughts can fill the night.
You have to learn to feel,
So you can learn how to make things right.
You have to learn how to experience the dark,
So you can really experience the light.
