"Mom! you're going to make me late!" I yelled as I grabbed an apple from the refrigerator. I rinsed it off and took a bite out of it. My mom is okay but she loves to treat me like a baby. Ever since I went to pre-school, she has taken a picture of me on the first day. I've always hated it.
"Here we go!" mom said as she entered the kitchen. She held the disposable camera up to her face and took a picture of me. I scoffed and headed to the living room to grab my Jansport bookbag. "You're going to school like that?"
I turned around. "Yes, mom. Checkered skirts are very hip."
"The skirt is cute but the black tights aren't", mother commented. What does she know about fashion? If it was up to mom, she would've made me wear a tight dress. Eck!
"To me they are. Mom, please. I'm old enough to know what I should and shouldn't wear", I said. I gave her a kiss on the cheek and walked to the door. I waved goodbye before I headed to my bus stop. The September breeze was something I missed over the summer. It meant no more brutal sunburn. I stopped at the corner which was four houses away from my house. I adjusted my glasses which felt like they were sliding down my nose. Unknowingly, a red convertible stopped right in front of where I was standing. My stomach churned at the sight of it. The hood wasn't up, so I could clearly see who was in the car. It was headcheerleader Brielle and her star quarterback boyfriend, Peter. Brielle laughed like a high pitched hyaena as she looked at me up and down. Feeling insecure, I looked down at my Converses.
"Nice outfit, Natalie. Did you even look in the mirror when you woke up today? Pathetic", Brielle spat at me. My cheeks grew red like they always do when Brielle says criticizes me. I really wanted to just slap her so badly but my feet wouldn't move. Although, the smug expression on her face made my teeth clench.
"I think her outfit is cool", my heated gaze fell on a smiling Peter. Man oh man he's sexy. I think his teeth sparkled when he smiled. "It really shows how unique she is."
I smiled. "Well, slut isn't really my style. But Brielle, you wear it very well, to me."
Brielle's mouth formed an 'o'. Peter held his hand to his mouth to keep him from laughing. "This isn't over, Nerdalie!"
I waved as she sped away, very angrily. Brielle Jamenson is the daughter of Tyler Jamenson, the owner of Crack a Box (a very famous restaurant in our area). Ever since I moved in to town in the fifth grade, she has called me names and embarrassed me in front of the whole school. I don't know why she hates me so much. I don't recall ever hurting her the way she hurts me. Now that we're in high school, the bullying has only gotten worse. Freshman year, she paid Harry Graven (the funniest guy in school) to sneak into my room and take pictures of it. That doesn't seem so bad, right? Wrong! I was obsessed with Harry Potter that year so my room had the cast of the movie on my wall, I had Harry Potter bed sheets, and I even had a cloak of invisibility on my dresser. How did I get one? My mom made it look just like the one on in the movie. Anyways, The pictures were blown up all around the school. The rest of freshman year consisted of my peers yelling spells in my face. Things like 'Get rid of this nerdadocious' and 'Lose this loserum'. They didn't make any sense at all. Sophomore year, Brielle paid Ryan Buckler to take me to homecoming. Towards the end of the dance, walked me outside of the school and we laid on the grass. Ryan said he was going to go get us some punch and ran back into the school. All of a sudden, I heard a bunch of screaming and then everyone from the dance sprayed me with red punch with water guns. I wore a white dress which made the situation worse. I was so embarrassed, I ran home. Hopefully, Brielle matured over this summer and won't embarrass me my junior year.
A girl can dream, right?
The bus pulled in front of me and I hopped right on. I sat in the first seat behind the bus driver's chair. I can't sit in the back or else I get bus sick. I'm such a dork, huh? Yay to the first day of school.

"Sarah! Omg! Schedule check!" we lined up our schedules next to each other and checked to see which classes we had together. We had everything together except history. Sarah decided to take honors History. I suck at history. I barely passed with a B average last year.
"Yay! I can't wait to have classes with you, Nat", Sarah said as she hugged me. A hug? Sarah never gives me a hug unless...
"You have a boyfriend!" I yelled. A couple of freshman stared at me but I stuck my tongue out at them.
Sarah covered my mouth with her freezing cold hand. "Yes. Now would you keep it down? Let's not let the whole school know I have a boyfriend. Especially when my boyfriend is Ryan Buckler."
"Ryan Buckler?" I almost threw up when I said his name. "You snake. You know what he did to me last year, Sarah! I can't believe this!"
"Omg! He feels really bad about what happened and agreed to apologize", Sarah clarified. "Speaking of Ryan. I have to go find him."
I rolled my eyes and trudged to my locker. What kind of a best friend dates a guy who was apart of the plan to embarrass me at homecoming? A terrible one! I don't know why I opened my locker when I had nothing to put inside of it. I slammed my locker and walked to homeroom.
"Hey, Natalie!" yelled a familiar voice. I turned around and saw Peter jogging to me. "I was wondering... Do you have a pencil I can borrow?"
I snorted. "You can borrow a pencil from anyone and you decided to borrow one from me?"
"Yeah. I figure if I borrowed a pencil from someone smart, I would become smart", Peter said very seriously. I stared straight into his brown eyes and laughed.
"That's interesting", I managed to say. I pulled a pencil from the front compartment of my Batman bookbag and handed it to him.
"Thanks. I'll see you around, Natalie", Peter winked as he walked to Brielle who was talking to her idiotic friends. Peter deserves way better than the blonde witch. I turned on my heels and walked inside of homeroom. Already, a couple of students yelled out 'nerd' to me. I hate the students here.
