Unexpected

"Suzy! What are you doing here? I thought you couldn't make it?" I asked in a flat tone.

"I rescheduled my vocal lesson for tomorrow so I could hang with you guys", she said with a smile. I mirrored her expression even though I wanted to tell her to leave.

Dean rubbed her back. "Isn't she great?"

"The greatest!" I said before laughing. Dean and Suzy joined me a few seconds later.

Suzy fished for her phone in her Michael Kors bag.

"Oh, I have to take this", she said before walking outside and answering it.

Dean took a step closer to me and stuck his hands in his pockets. "So, I need your help with something."

I placed my hand on my chest. "You need help from muah?"

Dean chuckled. "Yeah. Suzy's birthday is in three days and I want to throw her a surprise party. You're the closest girl friend I got so... Can you?"

Can I?

I mean, should I throw a party for a girl that I'm trying to steal her boyfriend?

But then again, that would mean more alone time with Dean...

"Sure, sounds fun", I agreed.

Dean's eyes lit up. "Really? I was sure that you were going to want a PowerPoint or essay on why you should help."

"You know what? That comment just cost you a popcorn."

"Aw, man. I'll keep my mouth shut next time."

"You better", I said before winking and walking to Rachel and Bryan. I am such a badass. Suzy walks back inside with her head down. I watched as she walked to Dean. Dean's smile turned into a frown. I wonder what's happening...

Suzy walks over to us hand in hand with Dean. She sighs. "I gotta call from a lady named Sarah Natigotchu, she said she wants me to fly to Cali for a photoshoot tomorrow night. But, I'll be back to hang out with you guys on my birthday."

Sarah Natigotchu?

I laughed. Everyone looked at me like I was psycho. I covered my mouth.

"Nat, you're so mean", said Rachel. "Sorry about her, Suzy. I think she's gone crazy."

I rolled my eyes. "No, I just remembered this funny joke that Sarah told me. At school. Today."

"Well, let's go watch this movie!" cheered Suzy. We all laughed and went inside the theatre. The order of which we sat in went: Bryan, Rachel, Dean, Suzy, and then me.

The single one.

Suzy giggled when Dean whispered something in her ear. I stuffed my mouth with the buttery popcorn and kept my eyes glued to the screen.

"Are you going to eat a large tub of popcorn by yourself?" asked Suzy.

I nodded slowly. "Yes, Suzy. That's why I bought it. So I can eat all of it."

"Yeah, Suzy. I asked if you wanted popcorn and you said it would make your hips grow", Dean said.

"It will. I only asked Natalie that because I don't her hips to grow bigger than they're already."

"Suzy!" yelled a frustrated Dean.

Suzy's eyes shifted left to right. "What?! Natalie knows I'm just trying to help her, right?"
