"Why me?"
"Because you saw me when I was invisible."
A tear rolled down my cheeks. I want someone to love me for me. Is that too much to ask?
The door opened and all three of our heads turned to my stressed out dad who was finally home. Dean got up from his seat and shook my dad's hand.
"Sir, I really need to talk to you- erm- alone."
My dad nodded. "Natalie, are you coming to our movie premiere? You get to walk the red carpet."
"Sure", I said. My voice cracked which was kind of embarrassing. "Oh yeah. This is Jeremy, dad."
Jeremy waved. "Nice to meet you, sir."
"Same to you, son", he agreed.
I'm really lucky to have a dad that doesn't get overprotective when it comes to guys. I guess he trusts me. Or maybe he thinks I'm too ugly for anybody to like...
"Follow me", my dad instructed Dean. He led the way to his office upstairs to talk. Dean followed like a little duckling behind my dad.
Once they disappeared, I turned off the tv and jumped up from the couch, pulling Jeremy with me. He didn't pull away, which surprised me.
"Are you sure your parents won't mind us doing it while they're here?" he asked as we tiptoed up the stairs. I gagged and tried so hard not to laugh.
"Jeremy, what the hell? We're just going to spy."
"I was joking", he chuckled.
I hurried down the hallway and heard someone swear. I turn to see Jeremy holding his shin, while he is curled up on the floor.
"What the hell?" I whispered. I tell myself I have no time for foolishness and get back to my spying. I press my ear to the office door.
"You can't break up with Suzy yet" says a husky voice. Obviously it's my dad. He's not going out with Suzy, duh.
"I can if she's distracting me."
"But the tabloids love you two together."
"Exactly, so when we break up, it'll spread like a wildfire."
"I don't know, Dean. What if everyone sides with Suzy."
Silence.
I guess Dean is in a pickle. I would hate to be famous. My decision being based on the public. It's too much pressure.
"Okay. I guess I'll stay with her."
"Good boy." Wow. My dad is more encouraging to Dean than he is to his own daughter. That stings-
Thump!
I groan in pain. My face hit the vaccumn.
"I didn't know you were behind the door, Nat", said my dad.
"Is that your boyfriend in fetal position on the floor?" Dean said in a high pitched voice. I sprung from the floor and pushed Dean to the side to help Jeremy up.
"Leave him alone you heartless person", I snapped at Dean. I supported Jeremy by grabbing his arm while he stood up. "Can't you see he needs a lil TLC?"
"I know he's a lil P-U-S-S-Y."
I glared at Dean who gave a devilish smirk back at me. "Come on, Jeremy. Let's go get you some ice."
I helped Jeremy down the steps, into the empty kitchen. I sat him in a chair and got a bag of ice out the fridge. I pulled a seat in front of him and placed his leg on my lap. I carefully put the ice on the bruised area so he isn't hurt as much. Jeremy flinched and then let out a sigh.
"Does it hurt?" I asked.
Jeremy shook his head. "Is there something going on between you and Dean?"
His question made my heartbeat race as fast as a train. "We're acquaintances. We would be friends but, he said I wasn't his type."
"What does that mean?"
"I think he meant that I'm this smarty pants and he's Mr. Cool Guy", I said with a shrug.
"Did you ask him?"
I shook my head. "No... Wait, didn't I tell you this at the hospital, where I met you?"
"You did", Jeremy teased." I just wanted to make sure you didn't like him."
I raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
"Because..." he leaned closer. His lips were about a couple centimeters away. What a tease. "I wanted to do this."
Jeremy sealed the deal. His lips crashed into mine and all I felt was shock and pleasure. I kissed him back which only made him more aggressive.
I like that.
I let out a moan once he softly bit my lower lip. I lifted my free hand that wasn't supporting the bag of ice to caress his cheek.
Best. Make out session. Ever.
"Ehem."
Jeremy and I jumped back in our chairs. I turned around to see an amused Dean on the other side of the island. I, however, was far from amused. I was more of like, pissed.
"Get out, Dean", I barked at him.
"Oh, I'll leave", he said walking away. "But I won't forget about watching innocent Natalie's first kiss."
I opened a little whole in the bag of ice and chucked a tiny piece at his cranium.
"Ouch!" he howled.
I laughed as he rubbed his head while leaving.
Jeremy took my wet hand and stared into my eyes. "Does this mean we're together?"
I bit my lip. Am I ready for a boyfriend? Or should I wait.
You know what? YOLO.
"Yeah, I guess it does."
