Brielle never means well

I sat on the curb where my bus stop is and unzipped my bookbag. I wasn't expecting there to be anything in it but last night's homework.

"Oh my God", I said to myself, out loud. I pulled out custom Vans that I told my mom that I liked. They had all of my favorite superheroes on them. DC and Marvel on one shoe.

I don't normally say this, but thank God for moms.

I slipped my feet in to them and smiled. But then I realized I still didn't have a ride to school.

"Nat?" called a voice. I turned around and saw Sarah and Ryan in a blue car.

"What does she want, Ryan?" I asked. He was shocked that I was even talking to him.

"Sarah wants to give you a ride to school", he answered. "Well, technically I'm giving you the ride."

Sarah smacked him on his shoulder.

"When were you going to tell me you were pregnant?" I blurted out.

Sarah and Ryan exchanged glances. I sat there, waiting for an answer.

"When it was the right time, Nat", she said.

I shook my head. "I'm always ready, Sarah. Any time is the right time. My best friend should know that."

I stood up and walked towards the direction of the school. It would take me a half an hour to get there but, better late then never.

As I walked, Ryan followed in the car, right next to me.

"Get in the car Natalie", instructed Sarah. I do not know who she's telling what to do, 'cause she's not talking to me.

"No."

"Stop being such a brat."

"Stop being such a bad friend."

"Would a bad friend offer you a ride to school?"

"It's their cheap way to say they're sorry."

"Would a bad friend help you get Dean to like you?"

I paused. I do need all the help I could get.

"What do you have in mind?" I asked.

Sarah plastered a pleased smirk. "Come in the car and you'll see."

I hopped in the back seat and Ryan took off. Thank God because I hate walking.

I was in chemistry class with the insanely hot teacher, and I got whacked in the head with a ball of paper.

I opened it and it read:

Dean would never like a creep like you.

Look at you, you wear hulk tshirts. You aren't even a girl. Go back to the planet of losers, you're polluting our airways, creature. You're such a fucking piece of shit. I bet your own parents think so, too. You don't fit in. Just leave. We won't miss you.

I ripped the piece of paper and heard snickering towards the back of the classroom. I took of my glasses and placed them on the table.

Don't cry. Don't cry.

Too late.

Tears slip down my cheeks. I wiped them but more flowed out.

I am such a wimp.

Just leave. We won't miss you.

It rang through my head. Maybe that could be arranged?

"Nerdalie!" shouted a voice that belonged to an annoying short blonde.

I walked faster like I didn't hear her. I wove through the crowd, left to right. Brielle shoved every person in her way.

"Nerdalie, don't act like you don't hear me!" she yelled.

I glimpsed back at her and saw that her face was redder than the fire alarm. I didn't want to feel the raft of an angry Brielle.

"Nerdalie! When I get to you I'm going to strangle you."

All of a sudden I almost tackled someone to the ground.

"Natalie, you almost killed me", grunted a guy. I grabbed my glasses that were in between his legs and put them on. My eyes widened.

"I am so sorry, Peter", I apologized. I fixed his hair and stood up. He got up too, laughing.

"It's fine."

"Oh my fucking God, Nerdalie. You are such a clutz", said Barbie. I turned around and glared at Brielle.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"To ruin your life", she said, folding her arms. "I can't believe you like Peter. I thought we were friends."

I was confused as fuck. Us? Friends? What the fuck is going on?

"What are you talking about?" I practically whispered. The hallway grew quiet fast. All eyes were on us.

"Brielle", said Peter as he stood next to me.

"Shut up, Peter!" yelled Brielle. She focused her eyes back to me. "Natalie has always had a crush on Peter. Ever since kindergarten. Did you know, Peter?"

Peter shook his head.

"What is your point, Brielle?" I asked.

"My point is, you should really tell Peter how you feel." She was talking to me like I was two. I really wanted to jump at her but, my whole body was frozen.

I shook my head.

Her eyebrow raised. "No? Okay. I can just show him how much you like him."

Brielle raised her hand and snapped her fingers. A huge photo hung from the ceiling behind me. A humongous wave of laughter filled the hallway. I slowly turned around. I was mortified. It was a picture of me licking Peter's school photo that he gave everyone when he ran for school president last year.

Sarah took the photo.

I looked over at Peter who was staring at the photo.

"Nerdalie and Peter, sitting in the tree", Brielle sang.

"K-I-S-S-I-N-G" The crowd joined. I pushed my way through the crowd and ran into the bathroom. This was the most embarrassing thing that had ever happened to me.

I locked myself in a stall and cried.
