Won't you take me to Funkytown?

Won't you take me to Funkytown?

Won't you take me to Funkytown?

Won't you take me to Funkytown?

I sat up on my bed and shut my phone alarm off. Don't ask me why I used that song to wake myself up. I don't know the answer to that question. I stretched and realized that I was going on a triple date with my two friends, a movie star, the guy who I hated because of the homecoming prank, and a stranger. Yay. Thank God I took a nap when I got home from school. It's going to be a long night.

I stood up and looked at myself in the full length mirror on my closet door. I tilted my head. I need boobies, stat!

I grabbed my b-cup boobs and jiggled them. I wonder if this is weird-

"Hey, Natalie. I-" The door flung wide open and my dad's eyes grew wide.

"Oh my God, Dad! Don't you ever knock?" I asked shoving him out of my room and slamming the door. Hopefully I didn't come off as disrespectful but in my defense, he was the one who barged in uninvited.

"I was just going to tell you to be careful with this date of yours. I would like to meet him if you don't mind", he said through the door. How did he know I was going on a date?

"Dad, we're only going out tonight. He lives in San Diego so, it's just a one time thing", I confirmed.

"Oh, like a one night stand like you kids say?" What?!

"No, dad. One blind date", I assured.

He laughed. "Okay, lunch is on the table."

Lunch? Since when did my parents make lunch? Unless...

I flung my door open and ran downstairs to the kitchen. A brown haired, Italian man was standing in the kitchen chopping onions.

"Paulo! Omg I missed you so much! McDonald's burgers was nothing compared to your cooking! How was Italy?" I felt like I said all of that in one sentence. Paulo put down his knife and stared at me.

He held out his arms and I threw my body at him. "I am so sorry I missed your first day of school! How is my Natalia! So glad you don't have to eat any of that McDonald's junk! And Italy was fun but not so fun without my Natalia."

"I missed your accent", I confessed. I squeezed Paulo's neck one more time before letting go. Paulo is like my second father. He's been cooking for my family since I was eight and he had just graduated high school in Italy. I was hesitant at first at the idea of having a stranger cooking for me but Paulo had my trust once he made the best peanut butter and jelly I had ever tasted. He made the jelly from scratch which was why his sandwich tasted the best.

"I missed your appetite. There was no one in Italy who had an appetite like my sweet Natalia", he said with a wink. I blushed. I may or may not have a slight crush on Paulo but come on, he's cute for being in his late twenties. Plus his accent just makes him more of a panty dropper.

"So, what's for lunch?" I asked taking a piece of toast from the pile in front of me. There was five pieces for me, two for my dad, and one for my mom.

"A ham and cheese hoagie for all three and three cinnamon rolls for Natalia", he said as he continued to cut the onions.

"Can you cut down on the onions for my hoagie? I sort of have a date tonight", I said, buttering my toast.

"A date? My Natalia has a date tonight?"

I took a bite from my toast and nodded. Is it that much of a shocker? "Yeah. My new friend, Rachel, is going on a date with Bryan Freeler and asked me to join them. I couldn't find a date, or didn't bother to look for one, so Rachel asked if her friend could be my date."
