I panicked when I saw the butt of his gun close in my field of vision. He laughed at my reaction. “Don’t worry. I won’t kill you, yet. I have so much fun torturing you. Of course, you were better silent. I guess I'll just hear you scream." He grabbed his knife, the one with the ship, and held it to my throat. "I'm sure you remember this." "How can I forget? You've used it on me so many times before. It's almost as if I've become accustomed to the blade." He smiled. "Good, it's time for your little boy toy to meet it." He stepped away from me and took a step towards Monroe. He sliced a line down Monroe's chest. I could hear his muffled scream. His guard got on top of me. "Just so you don't try anything." Ren called us over. "Gavin, bring her over." He tied my hands to Monroe's. I grasped Monroe's hands. "They want to be together so fucking badly, well, there you are." He walked up to me and ripped my shirt open. "I'm not sure I can resist. She may be a whore, but I still love her." "No, you won't have me anymore. I don't belong to you." He slapped me so hard that Monroe flinched. "That was uncalled for, Sadie. I think punishment is required. Should I follow the stories in the news, Gavin?" "Whaddya mean, boss?" "These people are tying their victims from the ceiling, chaining them to radiators, naked, keeping them in cages, and some other cruel things. Sadie, do you want to go back to your cell? We're above it. I can tie you to the wall while you starve to death. Slow but painful. I can torture you by hurting him.” He kicked Monroe. "Stop it!" My pathetic voice cried out. He took out the gun. "Maybe death is what you need to realize that you are mine." He pointed the gun at Gavin and shot him. He felt to the floor with a heavy thud. Tears were welling up in my eyes. I didn't know that man, but it was still hard to see a person die in front of my eyes. Blood began to pool beneath his limp body. "Let Monroe go. I'll be yours. I won't love anyone else but you. I'll stay here with you." He pet my head. "I would love that, but you both have to die. There is no other way to fix this." I felt cold on the back of my neck. "I can pull the trigger now and no one would know you died." "But you wouldn't have as much fun." We heard a noise. "Stay right here and don't do anything." When he left I pulled my phone out of my back pocket. I turned my head around and dialled 9-1-1. "Hello, this is the police department." "Stay on the line he's coming back." I pushed the phone under a table. "I heard something in here. It was just a deer outside. I heard voices in here." "I was comforting my boyfriend." "Fine, whore. Let’s get this over with. I want to go out for dinner. I met a nice girl at school. I think her name was Elizabeth. She believes that I am one hundred percent innocent. She thinks that I was framed. Screw the evidence, she says. Character is the only thing that matters to her. So, I’m just going to shoot you and him and then be done with it.” “No, don’t shoot!” I shouted. “Why do you have to kill us?” I stalled. “I told you that. You guys will put me behind bars. I refuse to be put behind bars.” “So that gave you the excuse to put me behind bars the first time?” “No, I put you behind bars to show you that I control you.” “Why was I your victim?” He touched my face again. “You rejected me. I never was over you. I wanted to make you regret your choice to abandon me. I wanted to be as close to you as possible. I only raped you and kidnapped you because I loved you.” “Big mistake. I never loved you. I was merely attracted to you.” “I know, but it wasn’t sexual attraction, which I craved. You only liked my bad side. You wanted to show to people that I was different and you weren’t as innocent as everyone thought you were. I needed to teach you a lesson. I took you the second time because I knew you were close to revealing who I was. I heard you try to speak and I knew that I had to stop it. I didn’t anticipate an escape. I had left you for dead that morning. I made sure that your cuts were deep and that the burns were third degree. I had someone set the apartment on fire at twelve. You had already escaped. Then they put you in that stupid program and you told everyone that I was the one who made you that way. You spoke. You stole your voice back from me. I wanted to punish you for everything you did up until your release from the hospital. Then you did something that was unforgivable: you slept with another man. I can’t forgive you for that, you whore, so I have to kill you.” "I didn't sleep with-" My sentence was cut short by the cool metal hitting my head again. “Silence!" He roared. "But, you’re right, I don’t want to just shoot you. I want to feel the breath leave your body. I want to hold my hands around your neck until your life leaves your body.” He dropped the gun and walked towards me. “No, don’t touch me.” I said pathetically. He laughed and placed his hands around my neck. He began to squeeze. I couldn’t breath. I saw the door open and a police officer step in. “Let go of the girl, Ren.” I was beginning to lose consciousness. “She has to pay for what she did!” “She tried to live, is that a crime to you?” “Yes, it is. How the fuck did you get in here? How the hell did you find me?” “We got a call from a girl.” “I knew I heard a voice in here.” His hands tightened around my neck. “Let her go, it’s over Ren.” I don’t remember what happened because my world went black.
I woke up in the hospital. My mother was next to me. “Thank God, you’re alive!” She screamed. “What happened?” I whispered. “Don’t speak. You need to stay quiet. I’m not sure what happened. I was just called to meet you at the hospital.” “Monroe.” I muttered. “He was with you? I’m not exactly sure where he is. I think he’s in the trauma.” The doctor came in. “Sadie, you just have a lack of blood cells to the brain. The blood flow was cut off when he tried to strangle you." “Am I okay?” I managed to get out. “Yes, you should be out of here soon. You will have major bruising on your throat though and your voice may be weak for a bit and you’re probably very dizzy, but that will eventually go away.” “Where’s Monroe?” I asked. He dropped his chart. “The young man who was with you is in the ICU.” He walked out of the room when the police officer walked in. “Ms. Dilon, I need you to leave the room.” He commanded. “No, why can’t I stay here with my daughter?” “The details are not to be known yet. You will be in serious trouble if you were to discover them too soon.” My mom sighed. “Fine, I’m going to go get coffee.” She walked out the room, obviously angry. “Sadie, you did a brave thing to save you and your friend. There was a catch though. After he strangled you and you lost consciousness, he shot your friend.” I gasped. “Oh my God! Is he alive?” He nodded. “Yes, but he’s in a coma. He was shot in the chest twice.” I began to sob. “It’s okay, the doctors are working very hard. He’s responding, he’s just not waking up. Ren is very much alive, but is in police custody. He’s claiming insanity, but psychopaths are not considered insane. He is being charged with four cases of attempted murder, four cases of kidnapping, sexual abuse and owning a gun without a license. If your friend dies, he will be facing murder charges.” I was sobbing in my thin blanket. “You need to testify on the stand against him. I’d advise getting a lawyer.” He patted my leg and walked out of the room.
I wasn’t allowed to see Monroe. In ICU, they are in isolation. If he improved or worsened, he was allowed to see us. Our friends visited me. Riley was angry. “Look what you did, Sadie. You came into our life and now, I may lose my brother. I hope that you are fucking happy!” I was sobbing hysterically. Hannah patted my back. “Riley, we can’t blame her. Ian was our friend too. I highly doubt that she knew he was going to do this.” “Yeah, Hannah’s right. She came here to get away from him, not fall into his trap.” Dan said. “Riley,” I started. “I had no plans of harming anyone. I planned to stay in the shadows my senior year. I wanted to be the girl that when I walked across the stage, everyone asked if I even went here. I never knew that Monroe and I were going to be together. Dan and Hannah are right; I came here to escape Ren. I hate that bastard. Anyway, Ren still would have tried to kill him. Monroe killed their father.”
a/n- This story is now rated R. I guess it's the f bombs aren't considered PG-13, so I'm keeping it at that rating. No sense in arguing and I guess it makes sense. There is some explicit language, so no sense fighting it.
