Aaliyah's eyes slowly opened to each of the sketches on the ceiling of the hospital room. She was so into admiring the art that she didn't even notice the handsome stranger standing in the doorway.

It was true.

Tupac sometimes came watching over the comatose patient whenever he'd go by her room. And for weeks he had even spent most of his lunch breaks reading to her poetry from some of his favorite literary geniuses.

Her body jerked forward sending a shooting pain throughout. Causing her facial features to twist up and a scream so high and loud. That it woke the patients in the rooms next to her escaped her dry mouth when she saw the cast on her legs.

"Oh my god!" Belinda pushed by Tupac to come to her daughter's aid, wrapping her in her arms.

"Wwha-what happened?" she stuttered "where is G? Mama I need to see him, he-"

Belinda brushed down any out-of-place strands of hair on her child's head. Then wiped at each tear that leaked from her eyes just as she had done all those other times. "He... sweetheart... G is-" she choked back the words.

"What?! Where is he? Take me to him now." She cried.

"He's dead."

Aaliyah sat there stunned as her mother tried calming her. But she just pushed her away with the little strength her aching bones supplied then she cried all the rest of the day. Her pillow could give the Atlantic Ocean a run for its money. It was so drenched in tears, and the worst part is she gave no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Belinda had never seen her daughter so torn up. But two red eyes and a stuffy nose later Aaliyah revealed to her mother that Ginuwine was planning on marrying her before the incident.

That information, of course, shocked Belinda. But somewhere in her heart she always felt Aaliyah deserved better than what he could ever offer.

She patted her daughter's shoulder "he's in a better place now, beloved."

Aaliyah just couldn't believe that.

The thought of her stayed on Tupac's mind even when he was out with his fiancee Dede.

"You look a bit out of it," she noticed his gloomy disposition "is everything okay?"

"I'm fine." he forced a smile that only made it to one half of his face as the waiter came around with their dishes–mushroom risotto and spaghetti bolognese with extra garlic bread.

"Finally! I'm starving." Dede said while flipping out a napkin over her right leg as the waiter sat out tall glasses of red wine.

Dekiya Moss was a beautiful woman sometimes that's all anyone saw her as and no doubt she used that to her advantage.
