Different sneaker brands crowded the waiting room area of Mekka Creek hospital along with 'get well soon' balloons and cards; all from the girls on the Detroit Lioness Basketball team who showed to support their fellow teammate.
Aaliyah sat up to greet them as they all entered the room inside of the hospital. Her best friend Fatima had also been present and showed up earlier than the rest of them.
When the girls walked in Fatima was sitting in a chair off to the side observing.
"I got you these!" One of the girls squealed before handing over her gifts to Aaliyah.
"When you gon be back in the game?" Denise interrupted everyone else sharing gifts and condolences.
"Damn! Denise, really?" Someone answered.
"It's not a crime to ask its not like she's paralyzed from the waist down or anything," she turned to Aaliyah "I mean are you?"
Basketball was Aaliyah's first love but it wasn't on her mind at the moment. Although she knew her injuries would determine rather she could ever grace the court again. She leaned back onto her pillow as bits and pieces of flashbacks from the incident stabbed through her mind causing a headache to form.
"So G's funeral is in a couple of days who's all going?" Another girl on the team asked as certain people started to raise a hand as a way of including themselves.
"I'm so sorry about what happened."
"It's alright!" Aaliyah said, but nobody in the room was buying this not even her because the truth was it wasn't alright and it might never be. But Aaliyah didn't like showing a weak side nor did she want any sympathy especially not from someone like Denise Michaels who also dated Ginuwine at one point.
"I didn't know you girls were coming." Belinda stepped into the room sitting her purse down on one of the dressers. A ring of 'hellos' followed from the girls. "So what is it we're talking about in here?"
"Oh! Just G's funeral."
"I forgot that was like 3 days away." Belinda sighed, placing a hand on her forehead.
"Do you think they'll let me out in time to go?" Aaliyah questioned with light hope in her eyes.
"Sweet pea, I don't know about all that," she responded. "It's currently very risky, and we have to be safe."
"I'm going to be bound to a wheelchair, if that's not safe then I don't know what is and I feel fine."
"Well, you don't look it." Denise giggled lowly so only a few of them heard which included Fatima who gave her a death stare.
"If we get the doctor's approval then sure." Belinda decided, making some girls cheer that was until Tupac walked into the room.
His dress shoes created a tapping sound on the tile floor. Each of the young girls' eyes had fallen on him. "I just wanna do a quick little morning check-up to see how the healing process is going so far." He made known.
"Can I be next, doctor?" Denise chuckled flirtatiously along with her friends.
"Denise!" Belinda hissed as Denise facial features started to twist up because she completely forgot she was still in the room. "It should be completely clear that a nice young gentleman like Dr. Shakur here is already married, right, Doc?"
Tupac smiled while holding the tiny flashlight up checking Aaliyah's mouth as she nervously held it open.
"Morning breath." one of the girls joked making some others laugh even Aaliyah.
