Cameron headed to go get Davis after dropping me off at home. I looked in the mirror and smiled. I was happy with this. Happy to be hired by Cameron. His daughter was so friggin cute, I couldn't keep my hands off her. "We're back!" I got up from my bed leaving my laptop and phone in place to help Cam with Davis.
I walked up to Cameron and took Davis from him leaving him to go do schooling. I went to her playroom and sat down with her. I found a stuffed dog and picked it up. I then signed out "d-o-g". She looked at me funny, tapping my hands and tilting her head like a confused puppy. I did it again and said it, pointing to my mouth. I did it again and then formed her hands into a 'd' an 'o' and a 'g'. I said dog again, pointing to my mouth again and then the dog. I set it aside grabbing a book. I did the same with that. I must've done every item in the room before Davis signed 'father' to me. "Cameron, I think she wants you!" He jogged in and kneeled next to her, "what's the matter beautiful?" She then looked at me and tapped my knee. She signed 'father' again. "What does she want?" "I think she wants to know what you are." "Oh. I um," "Are you okay with her calling you mom?" This took me by surprise slightly. "I- Yeah. Yeah." I took Davis' hand and then formed 'mother' in them. I signed it and then pointed to myself. 'Mother'
After my session with Davis, I went downstairs to make Cameron and I lunch. Cameron was still finishing his lecture and had Davis in her playroom. He didn't know I was making lunch. I thought it would be a nice thing to do since he said that stuff this morning. Cameron then entered the kitchen and was taken aback at what was happening. "Are you making lunch?" "Yeah. I actually finished making lunch." I spoke setting the two plates on the table, where there wasn't any boxes or bubble wrap or mail or something or another. I went to the fridge pulling out applesauce and grabbing a banana from the fruit bowl. I put it on Davis' high chair. I was about to open the applesauce when Cameron stopped me. "I just put her down for a nap." "Oh." I spoke softly putting the two away. "Thanks though." "No problem." "You say that a lot don't you?" I started blushing and sat down starting to eat. I'd made sandwiches, simple, but Cameron was still in the process of moving in. "So I was thinking of painting Dave's room." "What color?" I asked my mouth half full. "Light yellow and light brown. Like all the the walls except one is brown. The one is yellow." "Maybe. I think light blue or light pink would look better." He nodded. "Liz, I can call you that right?" "Yeah, of course." "Liz, I went and got Davis today, and they want to put her in a trial for children's hearing aids. There's a 32 percent chance they'll work and it requires surgery to do. I told them I needed to think about it because I don't think I have the money or the willingness to risk it.." Whoa. He's trusting me with this information? "Well that's your decision now isn't it?" "I don't know if I want to go through with it. It's only a 32 percent chance..." I sighed. "Cameron, if you don't take the chance then you'll never find out it it'll work. And think of Davis. You want what's best for her don't you?" He sighed before tearing up and looking down at his untouched sandwhich. "You should try. There's no harm in trying Cam." He looked at me and nodded, a smile starting to form. "You're right." He sniffed. I nodded as he took a bite of his sandwhich and we ate lunch in peace.
