Cameron took Davis, himself and I home and we got settled. Aparently my stuff had arrived two days before I had so he unpacked it all. "It's all here." He spoke carrying Davis into what seemed to be a guest bedroom. The whole place was up in pieces. "You just move?" "Yeah. I moved out of my parent's place. So it's just me and Davis now." "Davis and I. And myself." I spoke looking at him. "Sorry. Habit." "I can live with it." "Thanks for unpacking for me." "Not a problem. I'm going to go but her down." Davis was now on the floor signaling for 'father'. "How does she know that?" "I looked it up and taught it to her. She knows if she wants me she just does that. It's the only thing she knows." I nodded as he picked up the little girl and headed out. I was raised as an only child as my dad had died when I was eight. He had a stroke in the middle of the night. So it was 'peaceful' I guess. It was just my grandmother, my mom and I before and now my mom and grandma. I sighed looking at the frame containing me and my dad from when I was Davis' age. I picked it up and looked at it smiling slightly. "That your dad?" I turned around and Cameron was leaning on the doorway. "Yeah. He passed away when I was eight." "Oh. Sorry about that." "It's not a problem." I sighed setting it on the small desk in the corner in the room. "So you want some help finding a place for all this?" "No, no. I've got it. When I'm done we can talk about Davis." "Alright." He nodded heading to go unpack something.
I finished up a bit later, my bed made, and everything organized, and put away. "Elizabeth, do you kn- Wow. That was fast." "I'm pretty productive if I do say so myself." He chuckled and sat on the freshly made bed. I was sat in the chair I brought along with me. "So. Davis-" "How about we talk about Elizabeth Nades first shall we?" "Oh, okay. I graduated from CMU and-" "Lizzie? You in there? Cause I don't think she'd talk about her schooling." I smiled and started talking about me. "I grew up in North Dakota and barely ever traveled. As you know my dad sides when I was 8. My mom went into depression so my grandmother raised me while she was in treatment. For around six years. She got back when I was thirteen and she hasn't been able to replace my dad. So it was just me my mom and my grandma. I didn't have a lot of friends in school and the ones I did I lost contact of. I only had my roommate and a couple douchebag boyfriends as friends. So when I got into the real world I was excited. My mind went, 'OOOOOOH FRIENDS!'" He laughed when I said that and shook his head. "That's cool. Well not cool you didn't have any friends but you know. I was that was in high school too." "Really?" He didn't seem to be the loner type. "Yeah no, I was in a bad position at the time and then I made some friends off this app. I did some touring and had a pretty big fanbase with my friend Nash and it was cool. You know Shawn Mendes?" I was well aware who Shawn Mendes was. He was an incredible 18 year old singer. A Canadian Ed Sheeran. "Yeah." "I was touring with him when he was fifteen." "No way." "Yes way. " Cameron then went on about fans, and tours and performances and going around the world while making these Vines and YouTube videos. Then he told me he quit it all for Davis. "Wow. If that's not dedication I don't know what is." He laughed again and I heard Davis crying. "I'm going to go get her. You wanna go grab dinner? I know of this small Chinese place a few minutes from here." "Yeah that'd be great! Just let me change into decent clothing."
Cameron was sweet. He seemed like he needed someone. Just like his daughter.
