Chapter 1

"Liz please you don't have to do this baby girl." "Mom, yes I do. Do you not understand that this is what I want to do?" "I don't want you to go." "Let her leave." "Mom!" "Mom it's fine." I spoke looking at my grandmother. "She's got a job, a house to live at, leave her be." "I'm twenty one I can't still be living at home. It's time for me to move out. Besides all my stuff is on a plane to Cali anyways." She sighed and looked at me. "Be careful. Call every Sunday. Call if you need more cash." "I got it mom." I walked over to my grandmother hugging her gently. "I'm proud of you. You're going to do amazing things." "I hope so." I smiled at her then said goodbye to my mom. "Treat Davis as if she were your daughter. And treat Cameron like he is your best friend." I nodded while hugging her before pulling away at the sound of the cab arriving. "I love you guys." I didn't wait for a response.
It would hurt too much.
I got off the plane slinging my blue Jansport backpack over my shoulders and heading to baggage claim. My only suitcase (a black one. No surprise.) I put in the truck for shipping since it was black and used my baby blue duffel. I grabbed it when it came off the line.
I entered the exit area and imeadietly laid eyes on one of the most attractive men I have ever seen. Okay maybe not like that. But he looked like he belonged on a wall in Hollister or something. I thought that it couldn't possibly the twenty year old father of a six month old deaf baby girl. Either still, there he stood stoller by his side paper taped to the cover with 'Nades' written on it.
I slowly approached him as he looked around, "Cameron Dallas?" He looked towards me and smiled. "Elizabeth yeah?" "Yes. Lizzie if you will." "Lizzie. Pleasure to meet you." He pulled me in for a hug which I took seeing as I wasn't too shy.
See, I'm not a usually 'shy' girl. It didn't happen. So this was a usual gesture. "So, Davis?" "Right here." He gently pushed back the cover to reveal a sleeping little girl. Barely bothered by all the noise. You'd wonder how she was sleeping if you didn't know. It must be hard for him to figure out all this. His daughter looked a lot like him. Dark brown hair. Freckles all over her face. Probably from her mother. "She's so sweet." "Oh trust me she is until she gets grumpy." I giggled and followed him out to his car.
Turns out Cameron wasn't the douce bag I expected. See I expected this kid who didn't know what to do with a baby. But I got a Hollister model who didn't know what to do for a deaf baby. He knew his general parenting skills which was great. But not familiar with deafness.
