Happiness. That was something hard to find in this cold word, but somehow both individuals were finding it in each other.
You may look at it as Delilah being saved by Rod, but she was saving him too. His heart was cold upon meeting her, but he was softening up. He found himself caring about someone other than himself for a change, this wasn't like him.
Her being there with him, brought him joy. He didn't want her to ever have to go through the things she went through again. He wanted to be the shoulder she could always cry on, the person she could lean on.
There was something about her that intrigued him. Something different. How could someone who's had such a tragic life, be so uplifting? So amazing?
She had a smile that could bright up the whole world, he loved seeing it.
The way they could open up to each other, was crazy. He never expressed himself to any one else, but here he was telling her a lot about him that many people didn't know.
Delilah felt the need to distance her feelings from the situation, for she didn't want to be hurt. The encounters that she had with other men had her scarred for life. She didn't trust them. She knew letting her guard down would take some time. She didn't feel like her life was something that should be hidden though, somebody had to be there for her to talk to.
Sharing details of her life, to her seemed to be the first steps in healing. She didn't have any friends though, Rod maybe that.
She felt safe with him. Protected. When she was with him, she feared nothing. He had already done much more for her than her own mother.
Even though she never had a father, somehow she felt like that might have been the missing piece to her life. A girl should always have the example of what a man should be like, but she never got that opportunity.
What she didn't know, was that Rod's family tree wasn't so perfect either. But we'll get into that later.
These few weeks, have been the best to her. She thanked the Lord everyday for the man she was now living with. He was such a blessing. If he hadn't come around when he did, there's no telling where she would be now.
Although she was moving on from the situation, she still had no feelings towards her mother. She wondered what didn't she do right, that she deserved what she had been through. Why didn't her mother love her enough to be there for her? Why'd she put her through the things that no one should ever suffer?
She found herself praying for her mom. She hoped that God had mercy on her soul. She prayed that she would be healed from her addiction, and could one day live up to the potential she once had to be great in life.
It hurt that a normal life wasn't one that was given to her. She had a good heart and more than deserved it. I guess the bad happened to even the best of us.
