*one month later*
"Nicolas, I really appreciate your visits, you really don't understand how much your support means to me." Marge looked at Nicolas, she didn't understand how the man who she hurt so bad, could be so forgiving, and yet still by her side.
"I know you probably need an escape from people always coming in here asking you or reminding you of your past. I've learned that to move on with my life, I needed to forgive you first." Nicolas grabbed ahold of Marge's hand. "I was thinking, why don't you come to church with me next Sunday? It's time you let that burden go."
"Church? I haven't been to church in years Nicolas, I don't know." Marge began to feel nervous. She wasn't on drugs any more, but being in a church full of "holy" people just didn't sit right with her. She would automatically feel as though inside of everyone's head, they'd still be judging her.
"You have a whole week to think about it, I don't need an answer now." Nicolas chuckled.
"What would I wear? I only wear swear pants and stuff here."
"You honestly could wear that, but I know how much your appearance once meant to you, and I'm sure nothing's changed, so I will get you something to wear to church, if you agree to go." Nicolas smiled.
Hearing a knock at the door, both Marge and Nicolas looked at each other, she wasn't expecting any company. She would be elated if she was getting another visit from her daughter.
Swinging the door open, her heart began to beat faster as Fred stood on the other side.
"You're not going to let me in?" He smiled.
"Um, sure." Marge usually didn't mind seeing Fred, but right now, was not good timing at all. Here she was, standing with her ex husband and her most recent lover. She didn't consider Fred to be her boyfriend, but just someone she knew cared about her.
"Nicolas... This is Fred.. a friend of mine, Fred, this is Nicolas, my ex husband." She introduced them to each other. Fred began to feel a hint of jealousy, but just played it cool, reaching his hand out to shake Nicolas's.
"Nice to meet you, Fred. Marge, I'm about to get ready to head out of here. You have my number, and I'll be waiting on your answer." Before walking out of the door Nicolas leaned down and gave Marge a hug.
"Waiting on an answer? For what?" Fred waited for Nicolas to be long gone before he began questioning Marge.
Rolling her eyes, Marge spoke up. "I don't think that's really any of your business."
"Wow, so what are we doing here Marge? I love you, and I want to be with you, but you always giving hints that it's not what you want to do." Fred couldn't control the way he felt about Marge. From the moment he first met her, he knew she was someone special, besides her habit back then, he saw no flaw.
"Fred, I love you, as a friend. I appreciate you being here for me, but right now, I need support more than a relationship. I'm not even ready for a relationship, that I feel like you're trying to force on us." Marge stated honestly.
"Not ready for a relationship, huh? This must have something to do with your ex husband, why was he in here anyways?" After the stories Marge had told him, he didn't see why the two would be hanging out anyways.
"If you're going to keep asking questions, I need you to leave, I thought you came here to visit me, not to interrogate me." Marge got up, opening the door for Fred.
Shaking his head, he got up. "I see how it is." Walking out the door with his pride hurt, Fred took a glance at Marge. He didn't know when the next time he'd see her would be, so he just looked in her eyes for maybe a second too long, before turning around and heading to the elevator.
Marge let out a long sigh before closing her door.
She knew there was some chapters in her life that needed to be closed, starting with Fred. She no longer wanted to play games with him. She knew deep down that being just friends with him would never work, because he couldn't be just that. He would always want more. She couldn't keep hurting him.
Going over to the room's telephone, Marge dialed Nicolas number.
"Hello." His deep voice came through the phone, giving Marge chills.
"I'm going to go." Marge stated.
"Great choice." Nicolas smiled before hanging up the phone.
Marge was ready to start over. Maybe church would give her the ability to do so. It was time to make a change for the better, and prove to her loved ones that she was in fact serious about leaving her past behind her and taking steps to fix her life.
