Climbing up the stairs, Rod found a sleeping Delilah. She was the most beautiful woman ever, with no effort. He loved everything about her, from her long eyelashes to her almost inaudible snoring. He gently placed a kiss on her forehead, careful not to wake her, before creeping to Aaliyah's room.

"What you doing up ma?" He smirked, as he turned on the light and saw his daughter giving him the cutest little smile

"What you doing up ma?" He smirked, as he turned on the light and saw his daughter giving him the cutest little smile.

Aaliyah made Rod feel like the happiest person on planet earth. She was really a blessing.

"You want to play?" He said reaching on her dresser and grabbing a small teddy bear and wiggling it in her face.

Aaliyah began to coo and reach for the stuffed animal.

Rod laughed as she threw the teddy bear and reach at him instead.

He picked her small body up, and placed her on his shoulder.

Swaying back and forth he began to speak to her. "Aaliyah, you ready to be a little flower girl?" He whispered to her. She smiled as if she understood what he was saying. "Your mother is as beautiful as you, you think she deserves a rock on her finger?"

Aaliyah just continued to grin.

"Yeah, I think it's that time." Rod continued.

After a couple more minutes of swaying, Aaliyah drifted to sleep. Rod gently laid her back in her crib after whispering "I love you." In her ear. He cut the light off and headed back to his and Delilah's room where she was still sound asleep.

Rod snuck over to the nightstand, picking up Delilah's phone and seeing that the time read 6:49am. He jogged downstairs with her phone, to make a quick phone call.

"Hello?" The voice whispered through the phone.

"Sorry if I woke you, but could you meet me at the diner in 15?" Rod spoke.

"Sure. Everything okay?"

"Yeah, just need to talk to you about something."

"Say less."

Rod ended the call before grabbing a jacket and heading out the door.

"Must be urgent, for you to want to meet me here this early man, you sure everything alright?" Nicolas raised a brow, concerned as to why Rod asked to meet here in the wee hours of the morning, alone.

"Yes, Mr. Nicolas, every thing is just fine." Rod smiled to assure him.

"Please, call me dad." Nicolas said. The title made Rod's heart warm. He never had a father figure, and seeing Nicolas ready to accept him as a son, made this conversation even more easy to come.

"Well, Dad. I came here, to ask for your blessing.. I love your daughter man, everything about her is perfect. I want to marry her. She means the world to me. I need her in my life forever and I think it's time I seal the deal and make it official." Rod let out a deep breath, happy he was finally taking the final step in making Delilah his Mrs.

Nicolas couldn't help the tear that escaped from his eye. "Rod, I couldn't even think of a better son-in-law. I honestly think you're a gift from God. Seeing how you changed my daughter was a blessing to me. So of course man, you didn't even need to ask." Nicolas stood up, and grabbed Rod into a hug. "Welcome to the family."

"Thank you man." Rod sniffled. Nicolas was a great guy, and he was glad that he approved of the decision he was getting ready to make.

Next stop, would be picking out the perfect ring, for the perfect girl.
