It is an unseasonably hot day as I wait.
The fresh air seems to clean out my lungs as I stare deep into the woods. The soft padding relaxes me.
The bullet fast wolf runs out of the trees.
Trevin shoots out of the trees as I walk slowly around the clearing. Trevin thrives in his element. This is his home. He acts like one huge puppy as he bounces on his paws.
Chase commented that my mother has had him very busy.
I did not ask what he was doing as long as he still had time for me. Chase being busy means that I can have time to myself. A rare occurrence.
Trevin rushes to my side as I pace. At the moment there is a lot going on in my mind.
He paces along with me. Nudging my side when it is time to turn around.
"What is happening to me?" I sigh.
The leaves crunching snap my thoughts back to reality. Someone is here with me.
"Nothing," Xander emerges from the trees. He is the last person I want to see at the moment. "Cute pet," his eyes take in Trevin.
With his teeth bare he challenges Xander to come closer.
"I don't come to fight." Xander raises his hands. "I don't have a death wish. I came as a friend."
At the moment we are on my mother's land. If he came to fight he knows that he has a whole pack, plus my father's pack, to deal with.
Xander and I have never been alone, with the exception of Trevin, and this makes me nervous.
"What do you want?" I snap. He is the reason I am in this state.
"I want to apologize," he makes his way around Trevin but Trevin follows his moves.
"For?"
"What I said."
This is different.
"What about it?"
"I want to show you how to truly belong to a pack."
"Do you want me to join your pack?" This will not be seen as an act of peace if my mother would hear this. He is trying to take one of her own.
"No. We've been over it and you will not be in our pack but we will show you how it is. Without the luxury of having your status intervene with what you do."
I won't be seen as the alpha's daughter. I would be one of them. Be a new wolf.
Nothing special. Start from the bottom?
"What's the catch?" There is always a catch, I need to remember that.
"No catch. If you agree you have to treat this as if you want to be part of our pack. That means you will be treated just like the wolflings and take orders."
"Take orders from who? You?"
He smiles, "I am not an alpha but I am their leader."
We stare at each other for a moment.
"When would we start?" His mischievous eyes beam with excitement.

The pen flows across my page just as the professor ends the lecture.
Nate is glaring at me as I force my eyes to stay on the last words the professor has written on the board.
"So you want me to ignore it?" He spats as I finally look at him.
