I opened my eyes, yawning and stretching. I turned my head to find the bed empty, but looking like there had been another body in it.
Oh god, I thought, praying that I didn’t have sex with Adrian last night. I’d just met him, I wasn’t going to do THAT with someone I’d just met, I wasn’t like that.
I got out of bed and walked over to the mirror, at least I was wearing clothes, and they were my own, it was a little revealing, but it was the only kind of sleepwear I had at the moment. I grabbed my brush from my bag, which was at the foot of the bed and brushed my hair.
I then decided to have a quick shower, and then I padded barefoot out of the bedroom. Adrian was in the kitchen, cooking.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty.” He called, turning his head and winking at me.
“Good morning,” I replied, rolling my eyes at his comment, “I thought you couldn’t cook.”
I sat down at the table while he replied,
“I can’t, except for French toast. I make the best French toast.” He took the food off the stove and putting it on two plates, setting one in front of me and then sitting beside me with the other plate.
For a few minutes, we ate in silence. The French toast was definitely the best I’d ever had. I took a deep breath,
“Did we have sex last night?” I asked
“No, we just cuddled and kissed a bit, you passed out all cuddled up to me in the bed, too, and it was pretty cute.”
I blushed at the comment and breathed a sigh of relief, “Okay, good. I was worried for a while when I woke up in your bed.”
“I wasn’t going to take advantage of you when you were intoxicated. If we were to actually have sex, I’d want you to be completely sober so you’d be making the decision, not the alcohol.”
I smiled, “That was considerate of you.”
As we finished eating, we talked about the trip, and we decided that we were going to stay for a week.
“I can’t believe I’m going to meet them,” I said, blushing “This is going to be SO cool. I’ll try not to embarrass you. I winked at him
“You could never embarrass me,” He said, smiling “Even though you do act quite foolish when you’re drunk.” Adrian winked at me.
“Hey!” I protested, “You were just as foolish as I was!”
“Okay, whatever you say.” Adrian teased, winking at me.
After we finished eating, we packed our bags into the car and set off to the airport. We were flying in first class, not surprising, considering all the money Adrian had. He was even able to get us champagne, despite it still being pretty early in the day.
Honestly, Adrian’s the kind of person I can talk to for hours and never get bored. The flight didn’t take very long, but I had a nap anyways, since I was pretty tired, for some odd reason. Adrian could tell, since he said,
“You can use my shoulder as a pillow, if you want.”
“Thanks,” I said, smiling gratefully and kissing him on the cheek.
I leaned my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes. Adrian gently kissed my forehead unexpectedly and whispered,
“I like you, as more than a friend.”
“I like you too.” I whispered back tiredly, but it just sounded like a mumble or a grunt.
He chuckled softly, “Sleep hun, I’ll wake you when we get there.” Adrian put his arm around me and pulled me closer, another unexpected move, but I was too tired to point it out.
He started to say something else, but I was asleep before he got the chance to finish. I don’t know how long it was before a voice that seemed far away called to me,
“Laura, wake up.” I slowly slipped out of the deep sleep I was in and opened my eyes. The first thing I was saw Adrian’s face, smiling.
“We’re here,” He said, grabbing my hand, yet again another unexpected gesture.
I interlocked my fingers with his anyway and let him pull me up from my seat. We walked off the plan hand in hand to get our luggage, and Adrian only let go of my hand when we got near the main entrance of court. We got the key to our rooms, which were right beside each other’s, no doubt arranged by Adrian.
We went to clean up before the big meeting. I showered, changed clothes, put on make-up and straightened my hair. Afterwards I grabbed a snack so I wouldn’t feel as hungry. My phone buzzed, a text from Adrian.
“Are you ready to go?”
“Yeah” I texted back, and grabbed the books that I needed to show them.
Not even a minute later, there was a knock at my door. There stood Adrian, “in all his glory”.
“Let’s go meet the gang!” Adrian exclaimed, sounding nervous as we started walking.
I giggled, “I’m kind of really nervous.”
“Don’t be,” He replied, reaching over and squeezing my hand comfortingly “You’re amazing, they’re going to love you.”
“Thanks Adrian,” I said, smiling gratefully and blushing a deep crimson “I almost forgot that you are a vampire, when was the last time you fed?”
“Two days ago,” He replied “I’ll be good for another little while.”
“Okay,” I replied
“Well, here we are, do you have the books?” Adrian asked.
“Yeah,” I replied, taking a deep breath.
“Are you ready?” He asked,
“Not at all, but let’s do it, before I change my mind.” I replied
“Okay,” he said, he sounded nervous again.
He opened the door and we walked into the place where Eddie and Mia lived together.
We both froze on the spot at the same time, for most likely different reasons, but because of the same person standing closest to us.
“Hello Rose.” Adrian said tensely.
But Rose wasn’t looking at Adrian, she was staring at me, with a look of extreme surprise on her face, I probably had a similar look.
“Hello, Breanna Carter.” I said, breaking the silence.
“Shit…” Breanna or Rose said.
