I felt someone playing with my hair; I wasn’t sure who it was, so I opened my eyes, and I saw Adrian. I remembered what happened at Mia’s place and I felt stupid, for my huge break down.

“You probably thought I was a big cry baby yesterday.” I said

If he was surprised that I had spoken, he didn’t show it

“Not at all, I know how much you cared about him; I could tell by the way you spoke about him the first time we were talking about him. I just wish I could take your pain away; I can’t stand you being so depressed. You’re such a sweet girl and you deserve to be happy. You care so much about other people and try to make other people happy. Yet you don’t focus nearly as much on your own happiness. I want to try and make you happy, in any way that I can. I know it will be hard right now since you’re grieving, but I’m still going to try my hardest, because you deserve it.” He said, sounding completely serious.

I hugged him, so tight “Thank you, Adrian” I said,

He hugged back, just as tightly “Anything for you.”

I got up, kissed him on the cheek, and went to have a shower. Once I was done, I went out of the bathroom to find our place smelling like food. I walked into the kitchen and saw Adrian cooking, must have been French toast, since it’s the only thing he can actually make. Once he was done cooking, we sat down to eat.

Afterwards, he took me to see the sights of the court, and such. I had to admit, the place was beautiful. I was very surprised, that no vampires said anything. We stopped for a short time, so Adrian could feed. He didn’t want to leave me alone though. I promised him I’d be okay, I was feeling less depressed, and more just sad and in the grieving process.

While he was in the feeders, I called my dad; I talked to him and found out that he had died from a car accident. A drunk driver had driven through a red light and killed him. I found out that the visitation and funeral were in 2 weeks, in the town that I had gone to school in as a kid, Bowmanville. It was a small town, I wondered if it would still be as I remembered it.

Adrian walked out shortly after I finished talking to my dad and hung up. As we walked, Adrian grabbed my hand, and rubbed soothing circles as we walked hand in hand around court. I told him about the phone call with my dad, and he offered to come with me to both the visitation and the funeral, as moral support, I accepted, grateful that he offered.

We stopped to sit down on a bench in a beautiful little garden, and Adrian turned to me, grabbed my hands and looked into my eyes

“Laura, I know this is probably a bad time, with what’s just happened to you, but I really like you. I think you’re a spectacular girl and I want to try my hardest to make you as happy as possible, if you let me. So, will you be my girlfriend? I promise I will treat you like a princess, like you deserve to be treated.”

I was stunned, and speechless for a few seconds, but I knew that heat was slowly reaching up to color my cheeks a bright red.

“Yes,” I replied, and then I leaned in and kissed him

I wasn’t afraid of the fangs; he was just Adrian to me. He didn’t taste like blood either, so that made it easier.

We pulled away after a few minutes, and I smiled, actually smiled since I found out what happened to my brother. I knew that this guy was going to be able to make me happy. We got up and walked to visit Eddie, Mia and the baby.

“What’s her name?” I asked Mia, as she held her beautiful baby girl, smiling so happily, her looking so happy made me smile.

“Lissa Rose Castile,” Mia replied, sighing happily

“Aw!” I exclaimed “She’s so beautiful, and her eyes, they’re so blue! I’m jealous.” I laughed

“Thanks you,” Mia grinned at me, her happiness was literally contagious.

“Anytime,” I replied “Her little amount of black hair looks impossible to do anything with.”

“Oh gosh, it is,” Eddie said, laughing

“My hair was the same when I was a baby.” I said, remembering how my mom always said how impossible my hair was to even comb.

“Would you like to hold her?” Mia asked, her eyes absolutely shining with happiness.

“Yes please,” I replied, smiling

Mia handed me Lissa, and when she was secure in my arms, her eyes looked directly in mine, and she smiled such a beautiful smile. She looked like she was trying to reach towards me, so I carefully lifted her closer to my face, and she reached her tiny little hands, and still smiling touched my face softly.
