The more time I spent with Mia, Eddie, and Jill, the closer I got with them all. I had been quite outgoing, which was surprising considering I’d always been very shy. I thought it might have been because I felt like I already knew them, seeing as I’d read about them. That being said, I still had a lot to learn about them.

I was able to keep my brother’s death at the back of my mind most of the time, and just try and focus on being happy despite what happened, but every night I cried myself to sleep, and Adrian was always there to comfort me, which I was grateful for.

Baby Lissa also had a positive effect on me, just being near her made me feel so light, it was a strange feeling, but very nice. I had also become good friends with Lissa, when she got the chance to visit, which wasn’t often, seeing as she was Queen. Whenever Lissa came by, Brea- I mean Rose was there as well. I wasn’t mad at her for keeping her true identity from me, I understood she wasn’t allowed to tell, and our friendship remained the same as before, which I was glad for.

The 7 day visit had gone by so fast, I was sad to leave, but glad I’d be able to see Shay again, I missed her. Though I wasn’t looking forward to the visitation and funeral, I hadn’t been to one since Alexsey when I was in grade 8. As I was packing to go back home, I waited for Adrian, since he went to go to the feeders. I decided to text Shay to see how things were going, since we hadn’t talked to her for 3 days.

Adrian got back about 20 minutes later, and Shay still hadn’t replied, but I wasn’t worried, she didn’t text back quickly most of the time.

“Are you ready to go?” Adrian asked, packing his back, and grabbing a suit for the funeral.

“Yeah,” I replied, picking up my bag and putting it at the door.

Once Adrian was finished, we walked hand in hand, with our bags in our free hands to the airplane.

We talked all throughout the plane ride; I asked him how he was doing, with the spirit and all. He had said that he was starting to feel the darkness again, so I suggested he do something to prevent that. Adrian ordered some drinks for us and we moved to a lighter topic, but I continued to worry about him, I remembered what happened to Lissa at the academy when the darkness got too much. I’d also dealt with self-harm, which I wasn’t exactly proud of. I hadn’t told Adrian about that yet, but I would soon. I didn’t like hiding something like that from him; I wanted to be as honest as possible with Adrian.

Once we got back, Adrian went back to his place to unpack, and I did the same. A few minutes after I walked into the door, I got a text from Adrian,

“Hey, want to go out for a pizza? Bring Shay if you want.”

“Sure, when?” I replied

“In an hour,” Adrian texted

“Alright, see you then,” I sent back

I told Shay about the plan, and she said she’d join us; I went to shower and get ready. By the time I was done, Adrian was in the apartment, it seemed Shay had let him in.

I walked out of the bathroom and was practically knocked over by Shay

“Oh my god,” She squealed excitedly “Why didn’t you tell me!”

I laughed “I was waiting until I got back to tell you.” Then I glared at Adrian for spoiling the news.

We left and went to a nearby pizza place, and I got meat lovers, since that’s my favorite kind of pizza. Afterwards, we went for a walk, not really paying attention to where we were going, and that’s when it happened…
