Most of the night was a blur, it’s not that I didn’t have fun, I did. I always had a lot of fun with Shay, ever since we were in high school. We decided to go dancing first, and only have a little to drink, so we wouldn’t be getting sick all over the dance floor, we took off our shoes so we wouldn’t get blisters. I think we totally rocked the dance floor, haha.
Quite a few guys wanted to dance with Shay, and I’m not surprised, she looked stunning. I guess I looked pretty good too, considering just as many guys wanted to dance with me. I was very surprised none were creeps or perverts, I tend to attract mostly those types of guys, mostly. Some guys I’ve attracted weren’t, but very few.
Afterwards, we walked to a nearby bar, we had decided ahead of time to take a cab back, and we both had our address on a piece of paper in our purses, in case we had trouble speaking later on. We entered into the bar and I looked around, I was usually a pretty observant person. I people watch a lot, make sure I could tell who we should try to avoid, and try to stake out any cute guys. There were quite a few cute ones, I smiled; this night was going to get even better. Me and Shay walked up to the bar and ordered our drinks, and then we went to sit down. For the first little while, we just sat and talked about stuff, like the past, and the future.
About 20 minutes after we arrived, a man came up to us. He was tall, over 6 feet; maybe 6’3 or 6’4. He was dressed like those stereotypical biker dudes. He looked about 28, so 9 years older than Shay and 8 years older than me. He had dark eyes, almost black, and had a cruel look to them.
“Hello ladies.” He said in a deep and slightly menacing voice.
“Hello” I replied, slightly afraid.
Shay looked very scared, mostly because she’s so tiny and a year younger than me.
“Would you two like to come to my place? Have some drinks, and other fun things.”
“No thank you.” I replied, tense.
“I’m not going to take no for an answer.” He growled.
Then he grabbed me and pulled me out of my seat by my arm, and close to his chest, I was close enough that I could smell the alcohol, thick on his breath.
“Mmmmm,” he sighed “You’re a pretty one, aren’t you.” He said, licking his lips hungrily.
“Get your hands off me.” I threatened, in a voice that sounded braver than I felt. “Or I will kick you right in your jewels”
“Ouu, feisty aren’t we? I like that,” He said, leaning closer, but also changing his hold on me so that I couldn’t hit him in the testicles; his eyes even looked hungry now. “I bet you’d be great in bed, baby. I’d like to do some dir-
“Let her go.” An unfamiliar male voice said.
“Forget it.” He growled, looking at the guy who said it, but still maintaining my hold on me, even tightening his hands, it hurt.
“Let. Her. Go.” He repeated.
For some odd reason, the man let me go. I didn’t know why, the guy didn’t look like he’d be able to take him. The other guy was smaller than him.
“Now,” the mysterious guy said “Go back to your drinking, and don’t disturb them anymore.”
The man then turned away, but before he did, I saw his eyes seemed glazed over, or something. Weird.
“Are you okay?” The mysterious guy asked
I turned to look at him “Yeah,” I said, “Just a little bruised from where he was holding me. Not a big deal.”
He smiled, though it didn’t reach his eyes “Good, mind if I sit with you two? You seem to need protection from the creeps in here.”
He had the most beautiful eyes I’d ever seen, they were so green. His hair was dark and styled to look messy; I kind of loved the look. All in all, he was a very, VERY handsome guy.
“Sure,” I replied, sitting down, “I’m Laura, and this is Shayla.” I said, pointing to my best friend.
“I’m Adrian,” He said, sitting down as well
“Just call me Shay,” Shay said “Everyone does”
“Okay,” Adrian replied
I thought about how he reminded me of someone, but I shook that thought from my mind. He couldn’t be… Unless... As we talked, I ran through my mind over the books. Pale skin: check, beautiful green eyes: check, dark hair styled to look messy: check. The glazed look of the man’s eyes after being ordered by Adrian while looking into his eyes, and the fact that he listened to him. If his last name turns out to be what I think, then I’ll be right.
I snapped out of my thoughts, since the conversation had ended for a quick minute.
“I’m going out for a smoke.” Adrian said
“Okay,” Shay replied “I’m going to take a cab home. I’m exhausted. Are you coming Laura?”
“Not right now,” I replied “I’ll be back soon”
“Okay, I’ll see you later. It was nice meeting you, Adrian.” She said, smiling at Adrian. She got up and left.
Adrian and I got up as well, to go outside. When we got outside and he lit up a cigarette, I decided to question him.
“Can I ask you something, it may seem kind of random, or creepy, but I’m kind of curious?” I started
“Sure sweetheart” He replied, inhaling the smoke.
“What’s your last name?” I said, the words a little rushed. I blushed, and hoped he didn’t see. I hadn’t been called sweetheart in a while. Though, if I was right about whom… What he was, he probably saw the blush.
“Ivashkov, why do you ask?” He replied
My eyes went wide
“What’s wrong?” He asked, seeming genuinely concerned.
“Oh my god,” I said “It’s real. You’re real. I…”
“What are you talking about?” He said, tensing up.
“I know what you are.” I whispered.
“What are you talking about?” He repeated
“You’re a vampire,” I said “A Moroi.”
