Ch. 14
Arlen
The Grand Hall was essentially a very large room filled with rows of tables and chairs where people were sitting and writing their letters. Before I came here, I took the time to examine a long list of guilds that were currently accepting members. Since Helen said that us Casters were really sought after, I choose the top guild. The Shadow Realm was its name. Under their names were a list of the current members and their achievements.
Part of me thought I was aiming too high and was certain I was going to be rejected, another part of me thought that if there was the slightest chance that I could get into a prestigious guild such as The Shadow Realm, then I should at least try. Helen was quite certain that I would be accepted into any guild that I choose, so why not give it a try?
Wandering into the Guild Hall, I went over to the photographer and awkwardly smiled as the rabbit man took my picture.
"Next!"
I quickly got off the stool and made my way to a seat. There, I was provided with some paper and writing utensils.
I didn't know what I was supposed to write. I didn't do any research before coming here, so essentially, I knew nothing about them and had no real reason for wanting to join them.
I chuckled to myself as I was reminded of the time I was in school back on earth. Most of the time, I never paid any attention and always winged it on my assignments, but since I was lucky, I always managed to barely pass.
"Maybe I'll be lucky time to," I whispered quietly to myself.
With that, I spent about half an hour writing a letter to the guild master of The Shadow Realm. It was mostly about me just being reincarnated into this world and wanting to explore more possibilities as a Caster. Basically, the letter was bullshit and I knew that whoever the guild master was would know that the letter was bullshit too. As I turned in my letter and payment to the guild's secretary, I couldn't help but think that maybe I did aim a little too high.
With a sigh, I made my way out of the hall and into the sitting area where Helen was sitting. Upon entering the sitting area, I looked for my little fox friend, pausing when I saw her surrounded by some people I didn't know, two men and a girl who looked very intimidating to me. Surely Helen isn't in any trouble? That trio looks like bad news. Helen, who immediately noticed me, abruptly stood up and walked over to me and grabbed my arm.
"Let's go," Helen whispered into my ear. Nodding, I glanced at the trio to see them all looking at me with unreadable expressions on their faces. I quickly looked away and followed Helen out of the building.
"Who were those people?" I asked curiously.
Helen sighed and shook her head. I immediately dropped the subject. Whatever happened between Helen and that trio was obviously something that Helen didn't want to talk about, so I wouldn't pry.
"Let's hurry and get home," Helen said, "I want to get out of this dress and these God awful heels."

"I've never been up this high before," Landon said as he gripped tightly onto the edge of my chair.
I nodded and looked over the edge at the city below. One might ask just what the hell I was doing hanging out with one of the princes of our country, and I would answer, I have no idea. A day after Helen and I returned home from the Guild Hall, I received a call from the prince himself and he requested that we go out.
I had been here a while, but I still hadn't been able to see all that this place has to offer, so the prince, dressed in his disguise, wanted to show me around in exchange for a ride on my cloud chair.
