Mitch wakes up the next day feeling nauseous so he carefully gets out of bed and sits in the bathroom, leaving the door open so Scott can find him when he wakes up.
The nausea doesn't last too long and Mitch goes into the kitchen to make breakfast for them. Mitch is in the middle of making waffles when a shirtless Scott emerges from the bedroom and into the kitchen.
"What's this?" Scott asks, wrapping his arms around Mitch's waist from behind.
"Breakfast. My feet hurt already though." Scott disappears for a few seconds before he comes back with a tall spinny chair.
"Here." Mitch sits and thanks Scott.
"How convenient."
"I know. Can I ask you something?"
Mitch moves onto cutting fruit after he's done with the waffles, "Always."
"Do you like being pregnant?" Mitch puts the knife down and turns the chair to look at Scott.
"That's a loaded question."
"Is it as amazing as it's talked up to be?"
"No. Don't get me wrong I love our baby and I'm grateful to be pregnant, but it's not all me glowing and being so happy to be pregnant. Does that make sense?"
"Sorta."
"One thing is my cravings are constantly changing. Not right now as much as when I'm further into the pregnancy, but they do change a lot. I'll want pickles one second then minutes later the thought of pickles will make me feel sick."
"What else?"
"The second trimester is very awkward. I was only 11 weeks into the second one with Pey, but they were very awkward because I was bigger but it wasn't obvious that I was pregnant."
"Okay.."
"And people seem to have the need to remind me that I'm pregnant when I complain about it. It hasn't happened yet but when I was pregnant before, people would feel like they always had to tell me about how much of a miracle it is. I know it's amazing and I know it's magnificent, but I ache. All over. I have to go to the bathroom a lot. I get nauseous from everything or from nothing."
"That's annoying."
"It is. People don't understand that I may not love every second of pregnancy, but I can still love my baby and be a good mother when the time comes."
"Exactly. People are annoying."
"They really are."
"I'm hungry."
"Aren't we all?" Mitch finishes cutting the fruit and he makes both of them plates before they sit at the table and eat.
Mitch drops his fork and starts to cry, making Scott look up with concern, "What's wrong, love?"
"I dropped my fork." Mitch cries as tears run down his face.
Scott moves Mitch so he's sitting on his lap, wrapping his arms around the smaller boy, "Why are you crying?"
Mitch sniffles, "I don't know." He holds onto Scott's shirt as he cries more while Scott tries not to laugh. And that sounds mean, but Mitch is literally crying over a fork.
"Stop laughing." Mitch tells him, his voice muffled by Scott's chest.
"I'm not laughing."
"Yes you are."
"Baby, you're crying over a fork." Mitch looks at him with a pout, "Put that lip away, I'll get you a new fork." Mitch doesn't move, so Scott mocks him and fakes a pout. Mitch tries to fight the smile that takes over his face, but fails as he starts laughing.
