"I'm pregnant"
"WHAT?!" Damon yelled as he looked at Raelyn wide eyed
"Well I'm not sure yet, I have to wait for two weeks to really know if I am" she said quickly
"WHAT?!" He repeated "How? When? Where?"
"Calm down and let me explain" she said not liking how he was acting
"Calm down...yeah okay. I'm calm, go ahead and explain" he says and she let's out a breath
"I needed money for Sky's surgery so I agreed to be a surrogate for this couple in return for sponsorship of Sky's medical bills and education" she said so quickly it was like ripping off a bandage.
"WHAT?"
"Don't.. Don't freak out on me okay? I needed the money"
"So you decided to be pregnant? " he couldn't make sense of anything she said. It had only been a month since they stopped talking and now that they were, she's pregnant?
"Yes Damon, I decided to be pregnant so my brother lives" she snapped with a glare
"Wha...?" He shut his eyes trying to calm down before opening them back up "When did all this happen?" He asked
"Just before Sky's surgery..."
"Oh my God" he lost his cool again "When were you going to tell me?"
"Today and I'm doing just that" she defended. She knew she was wrong for keeping it from him but she felt it was best she did.
"After a month and a half?" He asked standing up from the chair. He couldn't believe the way she acted, it was almost like he wasn't even a part of her life.
"Damon..."
"You always do this. You do whatever you want and then you come tell me later. You must think 'I should just tell Damon, he looks like he might want to know' " he said, a disappointed and hurt frown on his face
"Damon listen..." She said trying to get a word in
"No Raelyn, you listen. All through last month, I tried to reach out to you but it was always 'Not now Damon' 'I'll call you later Damon' 'Now's not a good time Damon'." He said and the truth of it made his words hurt, both himself and her
"You make me feel so unimportant to you and I hate the feeling and how much it hurts" he said honestly and she knew it. More than he was angry about her decision with the pregnancy and about the way she had been treating him, she felt even more angry with herself.
Despite how she acted towards him, he was really the only one other than Sky who mattered so much to her. She loved him to the moon and back even though she didn't show it.
She wasn't one for emotions. She had fought against the world too long and it had seemed to make her shut down almost all of her ability to feel the things she was meant to, but Damon... Damon was able to bring out those emotions.
He was able to make her feel anything even though most times she tried to hide it. He felt hurt but her who had committed the offence, felt even more hurt.
"You don't treat friends like this Raelyn, its just not done" he said finally and sat down not looking at her.
She stood up from the chair and sat down next to him. He still didn't look at her and she sighed. She leaned her head on his chest and let her arms wrap around him.
"I'm sorry" she said and she meant it. She shut her eyes when he didn't say anything but let her arms remain around him with her head on his chest
"I'm really sorry" she said again
His hands came up slowly and finally wrapped around her too. A small smile graced her face and she knew she was forgiven
"I love you, remember that" she said and adjusted her head on his chest. He kept quiet as he let her words play in his head. He knew she meant it the way she always did, as a friend but he couldn't help but think more about it.
With how long he kept quiet, she thought he wasn't going to say a word.
