I looked where my arm was beside me but...there wasn't anyone there. I just assumed that my love was talking to someone or eating or drinking so I jumped out of bed and put my clothes back on then walked downstairs. It was quiet. Too quiet. "SCARLETT?!" Someone screamed outside so I fetched a gun off of the wall and ran to Daniel, the one who was screaming outside. "Cory, dude, man, she's gone!" My heart sunk. Her? GONE?
"What? She was with me last night!"
"She was? Well I checked all around for her, even your room, but she wasn't there!"
"Hear anything?"
"No! She's just gone!"
"Check around the forest?"
"Yes! No sign of anything! Well...this might be a sign.." He handed me a ribbon. The lady with the raiders wore that.
"It's that raider group."
"What?!"
"THE RAIDERS GOT HER!!" I screamed then ran into the woods, basically blind on where to go. Daniel rushed back inside, hopefully getting everyone else, while I ran for my love, life, heart and the only thing that made me stop thinking about suicide. I checked that my gun was loaded, fully loaded, then began to run again. Hunter caught up and looked me in the eyes worried.
"I'm sorry Cory! No one heard anything! Maybe she set off? She might not be good with-" I cut him off.
"NO HUNTER! She wouldn't do that to me! I know it."
"I'm sorry. We'll find her, I promise!"
"My mother promised me that it would be alright. We would be alright. But she was wrong. Promise is just a saying that gets you killed." Her soft shiny silver hair, slender body, a scar across her arm and her voice, her voice was calm and soothing. It would always get me to sleep.
"Dude remember, she can handle herself. She escaped basically slavery! Maybe we shouldn't be so worried."
"Maybe...but I still am!" I love you. Her voice faintly hit my mind which made me go faster. I don't ever want to leave you. I went faster. I want this to last forever. I screamed and ran my fastest. "SCARLETT!!" I screamed my head off and Daniel ran up to me.
"Scarlett isn't the only one who's gone..." He said and my heart dropped again.
"Who else is gone?! I'm such a bad leader!"
"Sebastian is..."
"They got the two people who are closest to me." I quietly said to myself and Daniel sadly nodded. "IM GONNA FUCK THEM UP!!" I saw a few houses up ahead so I ran to the more fixed one as they probably wouldn't camp in a broken and ripped up house. I looked all around the basement and attic but there was no sign of anything. "So if Scarlett came from this way..." I turned to where she came from. "Then the camp must be this way!" I started running again but she was probably walking for days, maybe even weeks. So I looked all around me but there was no sign of her, but a note carved into a tree. The whole group was behind me, even a weeping Rain, so I felt safer with everyone around. The note read:
'So, you found this. Congrats! As you have brutally killed our leader, we have taken the most precious things from you. Like you did to us. We've got our people patrolling the area 24/7 but I will be nice, you friend and girl are in the town, we just wanted to be nice. But...how many people is it in the group? Oh yeah, about 50. Good luck!'
"So...they're not far?" Ash asked. "That means that we don't have to go far but they might be well hidden."
"Exactly. And if there's guards then we have to be extra cautious. I go first, always, and you guys follow behind got it?" I stated and Hunter sighed. "Unless anyone else wants to be up front with me?" Daniel and Hunter stepped beside me bravely. Did they both have a thing for my girl? Oh well, I shouldn't think about that right now, because she's gone. "Ok, let's head for the town right now. We can ask our neighbors if they've seen anything last night, ok?" Hunter nodded then we walked cautiously to the town. The weather was cold and a little spot of rain here and there recently so we just had to keep on moving and find shelter if needed. When we got back to the hotel, everyone ran in and grabbed their stuff while I stood in the now pouring rain. My finger traced the mark that Scarlett left in my rifle a few days ago with her knife, it was a heart with an arrow through it and it just made me feel lost and empty again then I felt a hand on my shoulder.
