Lillianna and the Sand (1)

6: Lillianna

         I'm sleeping on bed in the Poseidon cabin when I heard knocking on the door. I slipped on some better shorts and went to open the door. I saw Jake standing there in some beach trunks and a tank top. "Hi are you ready to go?" Jake asked. "Yeah let me just change and get my stuff." I replied. After I put on some better clothes and got my backpack I came out of my cabin. I saw Jake and Zizi talking and as I walked closer to Zizi the scent of death became stronger, I turned towards Jake to make sure it wasn't coming from him and it wasn't. How am I supposed to tell a person that's probably been alive for hundreds that they're going to die? I guess now is my chance. "Hi you must be Zizi I need to tell you something important." I said "You um look nice." I wimped out. No I have to tell her. "That's not important." Zizi said. "I know that's not what I was going to say. I um Zizi uh you um are going to uh die." I said relieved. "Oh yeah I already know." Zizi said. "Chiron said that one of us is going to die and well you started acting strange so I got my answer." Zizi explained not the least bit of worry or sadness in her voice or expression in fact she seemed happy almost. I'm not going to question her.
         Zizi started walking ahead to the boat but I hanged back to speak with Jake. "Hey I just wanted to say I'm glad it's now you. Does that sound selfish?" I said. "I'm glad it's not you and no it's not selfish just human." Jake replied. I don't want to say this out loud but I would probably die for him. We walked faster to catch up to Zizi. "Hey you sure you don't want to join the hunters?" Zizi suddenly asked when I was directing the boat to my father's palace even though I had no idea where it was. "I don't know maybe" I said truthfully. I mean do I even stand a chance with Jake because of not I would become a hunter they sound cool and I've always been a fan of Artemis. But when I turned around and saw Jake's face slowly crumble away I changed my answer. "Actually no my place belongs with the camp." I said. And it was all worth it  to see Jake's face light up. "Alright then but you're always free to join." Zizi added.
         "Hey not that I'm complaining but why did you change your answer?" Jake asked. I blushed a little and mumbled "You" "What did you say?" Jake asked. "Nothing I realized I couldn't bear watching all of you die and then me still living on." I answered, I mean that was part of the answer but not the main reason. "Oh ok." Jake said. "Hey why did your face become depressed when I said my first answer?" I asked. He blushed a little and then said "I would miss you and so would everyone else." Not the answer I was hoping for but maybe that's not the main reason.
         I was staring into the distance when my eyes started to close. But I snapped awake. I'm pretty sure Jake saw. "Hey if you're tired go to sleep." He said. "I can't or else we won't go the right way." I explained. "It's fine let's anchor down and all take a nap." He said. "But what if we don't make it before the deadline then." I half-asked. "For gods sake just sleep Ocean Girl!" He almost yelled. "Alright sheesh." I replied before falling asleep. The dream with Jake continued and he kissed me. I then kissed back while standing up and making him stand up. While kissing I dragged him towards the water. I broke apart from the kiss and made a gesture for him to follow me. I dived underwater making an air bubble for me and Jake. As soon as it was done I started to kiss him again. After a few moments he started to deepen the kiss and I obliged. Once we were out of breath we broke apart and I snuggled into the crook of his neck and he wrapped his arms around me pulling me closer. I was about to say something to Jake when I woke to the sound of a storm.
         They were storm spirits. I realized I was the only one awake. "JAKE! ZIZI! WAKE UP!" I screeched. Neither of them moved. I guess I was fighting alone. "Ahhhh" I released a war cry. I uncapped Riptide and jumped into the water. I made a wall of water surrounding myself so they couldn't get to me while I figured out a plan. I decided to try and use Zeus' power, I focused on the current of the wind and changed it so that the storm spirits were under my control. I then lounged at them with Riptide and they disintegrated. The winds started to calm down and so did the water. That's when Jake and Zizi started to wake up. "Yeah hey I called you to wake you up because there were like 15 storm spirits attacking us so I had to fight them all on my own." I said mockingly while they stared at me. "You took down 15 storm spirits by yourself right after you woke up from a tint ship in the ocean?" Zizi said surprised. "Yeah thanks for all the help guys!" I said sarcastically. "Heh sorry about that." Jake said while rubbing the back of his neck. He's so cute when he does that.
         "Oh by the way apparently Atlantis moved locations so we have to change the course. I'm pretty sure it's in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Florida." I said like everyone should know this. "Ok well at least we sort of know where we're going so you can sleep." Jake added. I just nodded and drifted off to sleep.
          I woke up to a scream and what I saw killed me Zizi was dead and Jake was dying. I had one of my arms missing and gashes everywhere. "JAKE!" I yelled as I ran over. "Lily," Jake whispered as kneeled next to him. "Tell Fiona I loved her." Jake said with his last dying breath. I burst into tears and was shaking.
          "Lily wake up! Wake up! Ocean Girl wake up you're having a nightmare!" Jake yelled as I started to wake up still in tears and shaking. "What happened?" Jake asked in a soothing voice that stopped my shaking even though I still had tears flowing. "Zizi was dead and you were dying and then you died and I couldn't do anything !" I replied barely getting the words out. "Hey it was just a nightmare. I'm still alive and Zizi isn't dead yet." Jake cooed with Zizi wiping my tears.
