(WHISPER'S POV)
After Toothless had left I would feel... not myself. I don't think it was because I was missing him. This was something entirely different. Maybe I was getting sick?
I walked over to Meelo, grumbling unhappily.
"What's the matter?" She asked.
I made more angry, gibberish noises.
"O...kay then." She gave me a suspicious look before walking away.
To be honest I didn't really know why I was so upset. But I've felt this way a lot recently. I just felt more unhappy when I realized Meelo was following me. I turned around but she wasn't there anymore. Yet, every time I walked forward I would sense she was behind me. For some reason, she doesn't want me to know that she's there.
I turned around again and growled, "Why do you keep following me?"
She appeared from behind a boulder that I passed.
"Your senses seem to be heightened." She seemed to be talking more to herself then me.
"So what?"
"Nothing..." She whispered but I could tell she was really worried about something.
"Fine!" I hissed. "Well, I'm going to go take a nap now."
She looked at me again. "You've been pretty sleepy recently. You never used to take naps."
"So now I'm not even allowed to take naps?!" I growled before storming off somewhere private.
I felt guilt as I laid down under the shade of a pine tree. Why did I act so nasty to her? She didn't deserve that. I shook my head with shame before falling asleep.
(MEELO'S POV)
I've seen this a million times before. Whisper is the same. Should I tell her? She doesn't seem to realize. Maybe I'll wait a bit, just to make sure.
(ASLAUG'S POV)
I woke up to people yelling from outside the door.
"Get him!" I heard one of Ryker's men shout.
"Hey! Get off me!" Shouted a familiar voice. "Let me go! I must see my son!"That was my father!
"Father! Father where are you?!" I screamed as I sat up from a cot.
"Ah- Aslaug! Be strong my son! I'll come back for you." He yelled from somewhere distant.
"Where- father, where am I?" I asked but got no reply. "I... I can't- I can't see you. I can't see anything!" I yelled.
I got up and stumbled but managed to keep my balance. I blinked a few times but it did nothing. Everything was pitch black.
I touched my face and felt rough, deformed skin. My face was burnt beyond recognition. I felt my eyes. They felt odd, different. I tried to let them adjust to the blackness. But nothing happened.
Maybe it was night and I was in a closed off room. I need to find some light!
I felt for a candle. After a few minutes I felt the familiar form of the stick. The same coolness of the metal mount that held it up. I moved my fingers up, where the flame would be. I felt... warmth.
