A/N: So I just read the following poem in a story that was labelled as a joke book but I didn't find it very funny. In fact I found it quite morbid and it has given me inspiration to write. (I am not sure whether that inspiration is a good thing or not but... here it goes anyway.)
P.S. This chapter was different but the original didn't save properly so this is what I can remember of it.
***
Twinkle, twinkle, little star.
I want to hit you with a car.
Throw you off a tree so high.
Hope you break your neck and die.
***
"The stars are bright tonight." She whispered into the cold air.
"Eve."
"Yeah?"
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah." She turned away, in search of more brighter stars.
***
That was one of our last conversations we had.
***
The clap of thunder broke the silence. It was to be the biggest storm of the summer.
"Hello?"
"Eve?" He sounded like he was whispering into the phone.
"Yes Heath?"
"Are you okay?"
"Yes Heath." She sighed heavily into the phone.
The line went dead.
The power cut out.
The storm was here.
***
"Hi. It's Eve. Sorry I can't come to the phone right now. Just leave a message and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible."
Beep
"Eve. It's Heath. Please pick up. Please."
***
That was the last time I heard that voice.
My best friend's voice.
God, it hurts so much.
***
The garden was beautiful as it could be under the circumstances.
"We are gathered here today to mourn the death and celebrate the life of Heath Delridge..."
Tears fell from her eyes, staining her dress.
Sobs could be heard from the front row- his mother, gasping for air.
They are both wishing this wasn't reality. They both want him back.
***
I should have called back.
I should have done that straight away.
I should have noticed this.
I should have asked: "Are you okay?"
***
In the end, it was a poem I found online that had inspired his death.
A poem that was written into a cruel and nasty letter.
A letter addressed and sent specifically to him.
***
My best friend is dead.
***
Heath-
I'm sorry.
I hope you like it where you are.
I hope you are okay.
Eve.
