~Blaise POV~

Footsteps sound in the near distance. I yawn and open my eyes as the oak door opens. I see a pair of ears at the foot of the bed before a small house elf appears next to my pillow.

"Hello Master Blaise," squeaks the elf. "Mistress Narcissa asks that you comes down for breakfast in the next twenty minutes."

I nod and sit up in bed, the green silk duvet slipping off of my torso.

I pull a black t-shirt on over my head and swap my green pyjama trousers for some grey joggers.
Then I wander out of the door and down the hallway, lined with portraits of Malfoy family members. I notice some of them have slashes through them and others still have knifes and daggers stuck in them.

As I enter the long, dark dining room, I see that it is empty except for a house elf. He tells me that we're eating in the kitchen and I follow him through a door into the nice warm room, breathing in the scent of porridge and smoked salmon. House elves are chatting to Narcissa whilst making breakfast and she sits there merrily talking to them.

She sees me and smiles widely. "Blaise! My dear boy, did you sleep well?"

I nod, "Yeah I did thanks, you?"

"Oh it was alright." She mutters. I go and lean against the table and she pulls me into a motherly embrace.

Then she turns to the house elf standing next to us.

"Draco's not awake yet, is he, Luca?"

The house elf scurries away to check and Narcissa looks across at me.

"I just wanted to see how you're getting on, Blaise. I know it can't be easy for you, for any of you kids that had to go through that war."

I sigh and sink into the chair next to her.

"I mean, I miss my family but I also don't, you get me? It's like, they were never my favourite people in the world but they were there for me."

Narcissa nods and I lift my head to meet her eyes, surprised to see that they're clouding over with tears.

I smile weakly. "But you're a better mother to me then mine ever was."

She pats my shoulder fondly as an elf slides dish after dish onto the table. I take a slice of toast and put it on my plate, spooning scrambled eggs on top. Narcissa stirs a steaming bowl of porridge and takes a sip of tea.

"And you seem very happy with your girlfriend, she's the Weasleys' girl, right?" Narcissa asks.
I grin at the mention of Ginny.

"Ginny," I say, smiling wistfully. "I can't believe my luck to be honest, she's such a beautiful girl. And she has an amazing personality, like she's really fierce and I'm actually kinda scared by her sometimes but she's also really sweet and funny and cute."

I've been missing Ginny loads recently but me and Draco are planning to surprise the girls by meeting up for a snowball fight later.

Me and Narcissa continue to talk for a few minutes before Draco comes in, looking like he hasn't slept at all.

"Hello darling, are you okay?" Asks Narcissa, standing up to kiss him on the cheek.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." He replies hastily, snatching the piece of toast I was buttering right out of my hand and stuffing it into his mouth.

I slap his arm and Narcissa roles her eyes before announcing that she's visiting Lucius today and that she was wouldn't be back for dinner.

We say goodbye to her and then apparate over to The Burrow.
