Lylah

My flight back to school had been delayed. Great. Just what I needed.

After a grueling session of "know your fiancé" by my mother - cue the eye roll - I had escaped and came to the airport. In all honesty I had barely listened to anything she said. All I knew was he was the son of my father's business partner and they lived in the same town as my parents.

I was ecstatic to be able to escape my parents' presence and return to my cozy dorm and best friend. Buuut ofcourse the plane had to be delayed.

Bored out of my mind, I took out my packet of M&Ms and started munching. 10 minutes later, I decided to start up some fun of my own so I walked towards the big, burly security guard near the left exit.

"Yo big man! Wassup dawg?" I (horribly) imitated a man's voice, barely containing my giggles. The man looked so serious, I just had to mess with him.

The man still had his stoic expression on. Giggling to myself like an idiot, I started poking his cheek. Still no reaction. I turned the corners of his lips upwards, using my fingers making him look really stupid.

Still straight faced, the man addressed me. "Ma'am do you need any help?"

"No. I'm bored" I pouted like a child.

The man sighed. "There's the entertainment area to your left ma'am. I'm sure you'll find something to do there."

My eyes lit up like a child's in a candy store. Finally, bye bye boredom. I sprinted towards the area, hitching the my bag up my shoulder.

Running straight past the adults standing around, I went to the children's area. Yes. I know what you're thinking and yes, I like childish activities, sue me. Besides, adults are boring and they don't have a see-saw or a giant slide. It's not like I wasn't allowed to go in there anyway.

I went straight to the huge slide and looked up at it in awe. This was what dreams were made of. Well, at least mine and everyone of age 10 and below.

Climbing up and sitting at the top of the slide, I held on to the sides and let out a loud "wheee!" Before I slid down

Climbing up and sitting at the top of the slide, I held on to the sides and let out a loud "wheee!" Before I slid down. I swear it was the most fun I had in days! As soon as my feet touched the ground, I was racing other kids up the slide again.

Soon I got tired of the slide and stepped aside to munch on some Oreos.

My eyes ran over the area, filled with running and screaming kids. Ah, how blissful to be young.

I felt a tug at my faded, blue skinny jeans and I looked down. Holding on to my left leg was the cutest little 4-5 year old ever. My eyes immediately softened at the sight of the curly haired little girl's puppy eyes.

"Hey sweetie" I cooed softly. "I want an Oreo" the little girl widened her eyes in an innocent way.

My mind immediately blanked at the adorable sight. After a few seconds, her words registered in my head. No matter how sweet or cute or angelic this child was, there was no way I was sharing my Oreos with her. One thing you should know about me; I am obsessive and possessive. Over food.
