Hello!

Again, I am so sorry for being MIA for a while. I have been switched to the day shift at my workplace, so I am not on the middle of the day shift which means I will actually have time to do stuff during the week besides 'work, eat, sleep, repeat.'

Anyway, the next couple chapters are going to be Harry Potter themed. The theme came from blackcrowfeather, so thanks Nat! Harry Potter is always going to be my number one fandom, so of course I jumped at the chance to write these.

Hope you enjoy!

Calum-

"(Y/N), sweetheart, how about you go on ahead to Eeylops or Bufo's or Magical Menagerie and pick out your pet while Daddy and Mummy gather up your other supplies? Then we can head over to Ollivander's and get your wand?" Your mum smiled at you and handed you a small bag of coins. "There should be plenty there to pick out something. Remember don't fully settle. If you don't feel connected to your animal, then we can try again another day."

You smiled. "Alright, mummy." You hugged her before racing off towards Magical Menagerie. As you enter the store, you smiled widely at all of the different animals. You moved out of the doorway and started looking around.

"What are you doing?" You looked to your right to see a dark haired boy around your age looking at your curiously.

"I am trying to see if I am drawn to a certain animal so that I can take it with me to school." You said matter-of-factly. "Your animal is automatically your best friend. You wouldn't just settle on someone to be your best friend would you?"

"I guess not," he nodded. "I'm Calum, by the way." He stuck his hand out.

You smiled. "(Y/N)." You shook his hand then looked behind him at the cats. You walked over to them.

"A cat?" Calum asked.

You nodded. "My mum has an owl and I know for a fact that she will send letters to me, plus Hogwarts has school owls that we can use."

You looked over each of the cats. Most of them were either sleeping or playing, except one. One was sitting and looked at you. It was a calico with bright blue eyes. You tilted your head and it copied, causing you to smile.

"Hello," you whispered and held out your hand. The cat leaned forward slightly before butting it's head against it, purring loudly. You carefully picked it up. "See, now I have a best friend and the term hasn't even started yet."

Calum smiled. "Maybe our cats can be friends. I found mine while I was walking through the woods with my mum. He was only a baby and he followed me around so I took him home and he's my best friend."

You nodded. "I think you and I are going to get along great, Calum."

Calum beamed. "I think so too."

Ashton-

You stood with your friends at the Quidditch pitch. It was the first game of the year, Ravenclaw versus Slytherin, and it was your first Quidditch game at Hogwarts. You were always a fan of the game since your older brother played professionally. You were chatted with your friends when someone bumped into you.

"Oh, I'm really sorry," you turned to see a curly haired boy looking at you sheepishly.

"That's alright." You smiled at him. "Are you excited for the game?"

He shrugged. "Honestly, not really. I'm not a big sports person."

You looked at him in shock but shrugged. "That's okay. I'm sure I have enough excitement for both of us."
