I looked at all the people on the boat with me, they were all quiet and scared. I tended to some of them making sure they were okay. A woman looked at me with fear in her eyes and I walked over to her.
"Castel! We were in the market. Castel!" She said, I looked over the area and saw a boy struggling to hold on to some old rusted bars. I looked around for Clint who was occupied with a family. I sighed knowing Pietro would be mad at me. Knowing I was too weak to use my powers, I started to run towards the boy. My body still very sore, as I jumped over rubble in the city. When I finally reached the boy, I pulled him up.
"It's okay, I've got you." I whispered into his ear as he lightly cried in fear. "Hey listen, on the count of three we are going to run straight towards that ship okay, straight to your mama, okay?" I said pointing out his mother who sat upon the carrier. He nodded his head. Suddenly I heard a loud sound approaching us. I turned around to see Ultron in the Quinjet heading straight towards us, while shooting everything in his path. I quickly tried to gather the darkness but failed as I had become to weak. The boy screamed in fear, as the Quinjet came closer to us.
Knowing we would not outrun the rapid fire of the bullets, I grabbed the boy and pulled him into me, and quickly turned my back towards Ultron, ready to use my body as a shield. I squeezed my eyes shut memories flooded through my mind, as I tried to ready myself for the many bullets that would hit me, but as seconds passed by no bullet hit me. I stood up and turned my head around to see a bus had been moved to guard us from the bullets. I then heard a quiet and small gasp for air behind me. I shut my eyes as I turned around, opening them to see Pietro standing there. Blood where the bullets had hit, holes in his shirt and pants.
"No." Was all I could say, tears glazing my eyes, as I stared at my brother who had been staring at his wounds, now lifting his head up to look at me. The life leaving his eyes every second that went by.
He took a short shaky breath.
"Lizzy." Pietro said, quietly, a small smile grazing the outer corners of his lips, before falling to the ground. In that one second as he fell to the ground, I felt the pain come crashing down on me, inescapable, unbearable, never in my entire life had I felt so broken, never in my life had I felt so much pain.
As Pietro hit the ground all my emotions, flooded out. I let out a long scream, pain and anger filled the air, buildings crumbling around me, the ground shaking, darkness forming around me, gathering and, consuming the light around me. When my knees hit the ground, the darkness dispersed, engulfing all light in its path, then clearing as I sat on the ground.I held my head in my hands covering my ears, crying, screaming, desperately trying to wake up from the nightmare I was in, but, I didn't wake up, it was real, every second of it. I heard footsteps behind me, but I did not move, I did not look to see who it was. The ground still shaking as I screamed. Suddenly I felt arms around me.
"Shh, it's okay," it was Steve, his voice calm and sad. I opened my eyes to see Pietro, eyes still open, laying motionless on the rubble. I pushed myself away from Steve desperately crawling towards Pietro. I shook him, crying as I did it desperately trying to get a response.
"Pietro! Pietro please! I need you, please!" I yelled over and over, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry, just please, wake up."
Silent. Motionless. The life that once thrived in him, now gone.
I laid my head on his back crying, my arms around him.
"No, don't leave me here." I whispered as I sobbed. "Please, you have to come back to me. You promised."
"We have to go. Elizabeth you need to go." Steve said, picking me up.
"No! No! Let me go! Pietro!" I screamed as he carried me towards the carrier. Pietro still lay on the ground. "I can't leave him!" I stopped screaming, now just holding onto Steve, crying as I looked to see the buildings that had once been standing now just rubble upon the ground. Steve set me down on the seat, eyes filled with sorrow, and ran off. I laid across the seats sobbing quietly to myself. Clint now setting down Pietro's body. I thought of Wanda as I stared at him, all I needed was her, and she was nowhere in sight. I grabbed my necklace, opening the heart shaped locket revealing the smiles of Wanda and Pietro, my eyes lingered on Pietro for what seemed like forever. I closed the locket, and closed my eyes, the pain burning inside of my broken heart.
The carrier began to move and separate from the city, as the city grew farther away, I saw the full extent of the damage I had caused. I shut my eyes, keeping the tears from falling for fear they would never stop if I let them go. I did not scream either for fear of making more damage, instead I laid in silence, holding onto the necklace Pietro had given me, holding onto one of the only things I had left.(Just pretend that isn't Wanda in that gif, because that's what it looks like when Elizabeth falls to the ground.)
