37: Academic Decathlon

Peter POV:
I held on to a big truck as it drove on the freeway. I was now frantic as I checked the time, knowing the Decathlon was going to start soon.
"Karen you have to get me to the Decathlon as fast as possible!" I said picking up my phone and calling Ned.
"Sure thing just tell me where it is." Karen answered.
"It's right across the street from the Washington Monument." I told Karen, a few seconds later the call to ned went to voicemail. "Ned call me back the glowy things a bomb!" I yelled into my phone.

~Meanwhile~

Elizabeth POV:

I started to worry even more now as we walked into the building where the Academic Decathlon was held. I checked my phone hoping a text or call from Peter would show up but nothing. I sighed and put my phone in my back pocket.
"Hey, you okay?" Liz said walking up to me.
"Oh yeah, just nervous you know." I said giving her a smile, she shook her head and giggled.
"You're going to do great! Oh we're putting you in instead of Flash, since Peter isn't here. By the way where is Peter?" She asked looking around.
"I honestly don't know," I said sighing and I began to worry even more.
"Well if he contacts you tell us." I nodded and she walked away.
Suddenly a ladies voice boomed around the room telling us to make sure our phones were off, I then pulled out my phone and turned it off. I then walked in to the room and walked up on the stage with the others on my team, we then sat down and they began asking questions.

~about 15 minutes later~

"We have now entered sudden death the next correct answer wins the championship." The lady said, we all looked at each other and nodded, ready for the question.

~Meanwhile~

Peter POV:

I ran and jumped on trucks, desperately trying to make it before anything bad happened with the glowy thing. I could now see the city, i could see the Washington Monument, I quickly pulled out my phone calling Elizabeth, hoping she'd answer, but no answer, i then sent her a string of texts telling her about the glowy thing. My mind was scattered, and my heart was racing.

Elizabeth POV:
We all quietly worked out the problem, until Michelle sat up, i looked at her, her facial expression unamused at how easy the problem was. She hit her button and the judge turned.
"Midtown Tech?"
"Zero."
We all looked at the judge she nodded, "That is correct!"
We all burst out cheering, I looked at Michelle and we both let out a screech like noise and hugged each other, the others did the same, we were all now in a big group hug, all praising each other.
We then made our way to the Washington Monument which I had never seen. I walked alongside Michelle, as we walked across the street to the monument.
"You know, I've never seen the monument before, i had only heard about a few years ago." I said looking up at the tall, lean, building in front of me.
"I'm not going in, it was built by slaves." Michelle said looking up at it too.
Soon we got to the Monument and Michelle stopped, I then stopped next too. The group continued to walk inside, she looked at me and and let out a laugh. "Go in Elizabeth, you don't have to stay out here with me." I smiled and then ran up to the group walking next to Ned. When we got inside, Ned looked at his phone seeing the missed call from Peter, we both looked at each other then proceeded to call him.

Peter POV:

Suddenly my phone began to ring and I picked it up seeing that is was Ned.
"Ned you're alive!" I said relieved. "Is Elizabeth okay?" I said wanting to make sure nothing had happened.
"Peter?! Are you okay?" Elizabeth said through the phone.
"Is that Elizabeth?" Karen asked. "You should tell her how you feel."
"Are you guys okay? Where's the glowy thingy?" I said ignoring Karen.
"It's safe it's in Ned's bag." Elizabeth said sounding confused. I then heard the phone rustle and it was Ned talking.
"Ned you have to listen to me, the glowy thing is dangerous." I said while Ned talked over me talking about the Decathlon. Against he phone rustled.
"Peter is that you?" Liz said now.
"Oh hey Liz." I answered now. "Please put Elizabeth or Ned on the phone." I said now as I approached the washington monument.
"You flake! You are so lucky we won. You know I wanna be mad but i'm more worried. What had gotten into you lately?" She said, I was now frustrated and anxious, all I needed was to talk to Ned or Lizzy and tell them about the bomb that were carrying with them.
"Liz! I have to talk to Elizabeth it's important!" I heard her scoff and then a man tell her to hurry up, I then heard the phone but put down, and it hung up. "Liz? Liz? Dammit!" I then continued running almost to the monument.
